Ubisoft Launches Watch Dogs’ WeareData Website Experiment

Ubisoft has today launched the Watch Dogs’ WeareData, website which has been designed to gather and graph the publicly available data that govern people’s lives in a single location and is initially available for the cities of Berlin, London and Paris.

In Watch Dogs, the highly anticipated open world action game from Ubisoft, the fictionalized city of Chicago is run by a Central Operating System, linking all of the city’s online infrastructures and public security installations to one centralized hub. Information is at the heart of the game and also at the heart of WeareData.

With WeareData, visitors will discover that much of the hyper-connected world imagined in Watch Dogs already is a reality, and that everything and everyone is truly connected. The amount of and potential uses for public and personal information that is readily available online has never been more relevant, as evidenced by today’s headlines. WeareData is designed to provide a glimpse into this reality and to give visitors a new perspective on the cities in which they live.

Watch Dogs’ WeareData allows users to access the real-time data that organize and help run the cities of Berlin, London and Paris, as well current information on their inhabitants. Via a 3D mapping system, the consolidated, openly available information that can be easily viewed includes public transport schedules such as subways and public bicycles, telecommunications networks including mobile antennas, WiFi spots and advertising networks, energy consumption, traffic and safety infrastructure like CCTV cameras and traffic lights and regionalized socioeconomic data such as average net income, unemployment rate and crime rate. Also available are geo-localized social media activities for the cities’ residents, including their public posts on Facebook, Foursquare, Instagram and Twitter.

Sanctum 2: DLC

The revolution has begun! Sanctum 2: Road to Elysion, the first of four DLC expansion packs for the tower-defense/FPS hybrid Sanctum 2, launches today on Steam. From Swedish indie developers Coffee Stain Studios, Road to Elysion is centered around a new shadowy playable character, TSYGAN, as she reveals the sinister origins of the conflict on LOEK III.  Delivering intricate maps, advanced new weapons, uniquely cool perks and sadistically enhanced enemies, Road To Elysion delivers a thrilling, intense chapter to the Sanctum universe.

We’ve packed Road to Elysion with a ton of new stuff. Above and beyond the gameplay additions we’ve incorporated into Road to Elysion, the new playable character TSYGAN adds an interesting, darker dimension to Sanctum 2 that I think our fans will love.

said Anton Westberg, CEO of Coffee Stain Studios.

Key Features Include

  • New Playable Character – TSYGAN, the “Rogue Insurgent”, reveals the sinister origins to the colonization of LOEK III.
  • Diverse Maps – Four new maps with exciting gameplay elements adding refreshing new tactics and replayability.
  • Two Mega Powered Weapons – Take hold of the Rapid-firing Gatling Laser & TSYGAN’s own handheld Ballista!
  • Two Distinct Towers – The Range Spire dramatically increases the reach of nearby offensive towers and the Slow Field Dispenser dramatically hinders the speed of enemies to make choke points more effective.
  • Enhanced Enemies – With new support monsters that heal and mutate the attacking horde and a vicious new aerial enemy boss, players must be prepared for this heightened challenge.
  • Additional Perks – Customize your character even more with six new perks, including a perk that gives you an in-game pet robot that will fight for you.

Combining key gameplay elements of both tower-defense and first-person shooter genres, Sanctum 2 players take on the role of an elite soldier whose mission is to protect the oxygen-producing Cores from hordes of deadly aliens who are threatened by their very existence.  The new Road to Elysion expansion pack delves deeper into the main storyline revealing a sinister secret behind the colonization of Loek III.  Players set up defensive towers to take out the waves of attacking enemies and then jump head-on into the fray, either alone or as part of a squad in four-player co-op multiplayer.

Microsoft Making Adapter for Xbox 360 Headsets to Work With Xbox One

It was confirmed by Microsoft that the Xbox One would not support Xbox 360 headsets or controllers – until now! Xbox Support confirmed the news on twitter that something else that might cost you money is in development, an Xbox 360 to Xbox One headset adapter!

Bring forth your wallets!

Currently as it stands there will be no headset included with the Xbox One console package as Kinect is deemed a suitable enough device to operate multiplayer and skype voice chatting on Xbox LIVE.

We’ll keep you posted on future developments with this in due course.

Ubisoft To Give 137 Fans Chance To Be Part of Assassin’s Creed History

Today, Ubisoft has announced a unique experience for Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag fans, giving them the chance to be a part of Assassin’s Creed history. 137 lucky fans will be immortalised in an Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag 18th century style oil-painting, depicting an intense and epic Naval Battle on the high seas. Brought to life by the masters at Beaux-Arts school in Paris, the 2.3 x 4.5 meter painting will be displayed online and in the Musée de la Marine gallery in France, from November 4th to December 3rd this year.

To becoming part of Assassin’s Creed history, simply send images of yourself expressing as much emotion and passion as you can muster. Share your entry via social media, watch the artwork progress over time, and ‘like’ your favourite faces.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag tells the story of Edward Kenway, a young British man with a thirst for danger and adventure, who falls from privateering for the Royal Navy into piracy as the war between the major Empires comes to an end. Edward is a fierce pirate and seasoned fighter who soon finds himself embroiled in the ancient war between Assassins and Templars. Set at the dawn of the 18th Century, the game features some of the most infamous pirates in history, such as Blackbeard and Charles Vane, and takes players on a journey throughout the West Indies during a turbulent and violent period of time later to become known as the Golden Age of Pirates.

Xbox One – Lack of Headset in Bundle Due To Kinect

Although the Xbox One in-the-box-contents were revealed a few weeks ago now, the whole kit at launch in the box will include an Xbox One console, Kinect Sensor, Xbox One Controller and an all important HDMI cable. If you have a ‘Day One Edition’ then your controller will have small branding and you get one Achievement. There is not a wired headset in the console box for any edition for the following reasons as explained by Microsoft to Ars Technica.

Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences. For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire.

Gamers who have already experienced the robotic-like tones of using Kinect on the Xbox 360 to chat with will hardly be thrilled by this news having no confidence that Kinect for Xbox One will offer an improvement on the chat features. The benefits of a headset separate chat from game background noise and sometimes in a room with friends or family – do you want them to hear your full conversations, do they want to even hear your conversations?

The Xbox One wired headset is available to buy separately (not yet priced) adding another expense to the £429.99 price tag for the console and Kinect.

State of Decay Banned from Australia – Fix in Progress

State of Decay Title

Not only was Saints Row IV refused classification in the land of Oz, but now XBLA game ‘State of Decay’ follows suit, but Undead Labs has confirmed they are working with Microsoft to overcome the issues for another pending rating.

Quoted by Executive Producer – Jeff Stain from Undead Labs:

“Hola Australian State of Decay fans,

I have bad news to share: State of Decay has been refused classification by the Australian Classification Board (ACB). We’ve run afoul of certain prohibitions regarding the depiction of drug use. We’re working with Microsoft to come up with options, including changing names of certain medications in the game to comply with ratings requirements. Whatever our path forward, it’s going to take a bit.

I know this is frustrating — believe me, we’re frustrated too — but each country has the right to set its own rules about content, and it’s our responsibility to comply with them. Rest assured we’ll do everything we can to find a way to get the game into your hands. Stay tuned.

When and if official release dates for an Australian audience is announced, we’ll keep you posted!
