Homefront: The Revolution ‘Ignite’ Trailer

Check out the latest video from Deep Silver that gives us further insight into the world of Homefront: The Revolution.

This time the video focuses on the ultimate goal in Homefront which is to inspire the people to rise up against the brutal military occupation and ignite the revolution. As you play as freedom fighter Ethan Brady and perform acts of resistance, such as destroying KPA in-frastructure you alter the ‘Hearts and Minds’ state of the uprising.

As this state increases the open world will dynamically change around you. Where once civilians cowered and hid, they now join you in acts of defiance and resistance, taking the zones from a state of lockdown to an open revolution in a single spark.

Homefront: The Revolution will be released on Xbox One and PC on May 20th 2016

New mode coming to Far Cry Primal

If you mention Far Cry Primal to some people you might get the response, been there, done that and got the t-shirt but life in the stone-age is about to get a whole lot harder. Ubisoft have announced that a free patch is coming to Far Cry Primal on April 12th titled Survivor Mode. Survival Mode will bring key changes to the exploration, crafting, and difficulty of the game to make it even more realistic. It doesn’t stop there though and alongside the key changes there will also be other options the player can activate to further intensify the game.

Here is a quick overview of some of the features coming to with the update:

  • Permadeath – if you want real realism then this is the mode for you. Full permadeath means its game over if you die, no second chances (except in vision missions, which aren’t “real”). If that seems just too real then you can select the second-chance option that will give you one backup life. This life can however be replenished at certain checkpoints within the game.
  • A stamina gauge has been added making Takkar slower and weaker when it runs out, and forcing him to sleep in order to replenish it.
  • The minimap is now turned off by default, and the fog of war has been strengthened, lessening the amount of the map you reveal as you explore.
  • The amount of humans and animals you encounter while you explore has been reduced meaning hunting now takes time and patience.
  • Fast Travel now consumes food and stamina so use it wisely.
  • The animals you can tame are now less powerful and the most powerful beasts like sabretooths and bears, will not let themselves be tamed so easily. You’re going to have to fight them up to the moment that they are at half-life, then bait them and tame them.
  • If animals that you have tamed die, they are now gone for good. You still have a chance to save them but this will make you think twice on your strategy especially with the legendary beasts like the Bloodfang Sabretooth, once they are dead they are gone for good.

Takkar has also been tweaked in a few ways:

  • He can no longer rain remote-control death on foes using his owl, for example.
  • Crafting ammo now takes a few seconds rather than instantaneous.
  • He’s more susceptible to cold, which increases his dependency on fire, and makes crafting cold-weather gear a top priority if you’re planning to venture into the chillier parts of Oro.
  • His Hunter Vision has been increased – which should come in handy for surviving the longer, darker, deadlier nights that now befall the land of Oros.

But it’s not all about take take take, Ubisoft have introduced four new Ubisoft Challenges. New Xbox Live achievements aren’t possible in this update but there’s a special reward for anyone who completes the game whilst accepting the challenge of playing in Survivor Mode with expert difficulty and activating permadeath.

The Far Cry Primal Survivor Mode update will be available for free to all owners of the game on April 12th.

New gear, and a few old favourites, coming in the Destiny April update

Last week, Bungie announced the new content coming with the April update, due to launch on April 12, 2016. However, what good is new content without new gear?

In the latest April update reveal, Bungie announced all of the new armour and weapons which will be available to help Guardians reach the new light level cap of 335.

Starting with new armour, there are now new sets for each class type for each of the three Crucible factions, Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, and New Monarchy, all of which follow the traditional colour palettes of each of the factions. As teased in recent promotional images, a new Taken-themed armour set was also shown, the Desolate set, which players can only obtain through special packages called Sterling Treasure boxes. These treasure boxes are awarded by completing the level 41 Prison of Elders, finishing your weekly Crucible bounties, or are purchasable from the Eververse kiosk. A neat additional bonus when completing the full set of the Desolate set, a special Taken emote is unlocked, completing the full look. Stirling Treasure boxes will always drop a guaranteed piece of armour, which may or may not be for your class, as well as some items you could possibly get, including class items, faction reputation boosts, a ship, or a Sparrow.

Bungie also announced a brand new set of armour called the Spektar line, which feels much more traditional to the class archetype. The Hunter’s armour is inspired by cold weather gear, the Warlock is much more streamlined and sophisticated, and the Titan gear has a more organic and rounded appearance. The Spektar gear has been developed with the new customisation option available for Guardians, the Chroma system. Available in blue, red, yellow, or white, the Chrome system adds an additional flourish to the armour pieces, and allows players to further customise their appearance. Once again, the Spektar armour is obtainable via Stirling Treasure boxes, completing the level 41 Prison of Elders, or by finishing your weekly Crucible bounties.

Chroma can be applied to each piece of armour separately, allowing you to create a completely unique look. Chroma is acquired via the Stirling Treasure boxes, or by dismantling items which have Chroma applied to them. You can apply Chroma to an item via the upgrade nodes, but each item has a Chrome value already assigned to it, so you can’t apply yellow to a helmet which already has a Chroma node of red, for example. However, at the cost of 100 glimmer and the loss of any Chroma applied to an item, you can re-roll for another colour, however this is completely random. To encourage further customisation, Chroma is not affected by the active shader, so expect to see some very interesting colour combinations…

What you may notice, however, is that these new pieces of armour all drop at light level 3, which isn’t great if you’re working towards that elusive 335. You will be pleased to hear that Bungie has changed the way infusion works with the new update, so if you want to get that light level 3 helmet up to 335, there are far fewer steps to go through. If you have a helmet which is light level 335, previously you would have infused it into the light level 3 helmet, with no guarantee of what the new light level would be. Now, infusing a 335 helmet into a 3 helmet, makes the light level 3 helmet 335. No more guess work, no more calculators, it’s just nice and simple.

Of course, it can’t all be about armour, can it?

Bungie are also bringing some new weapons with the update, including a rather interesting Taken sword, complete Void elemental damage, as well as a rather sweet looking Taken shotgun. But, there’s more… In an announcement which took most people by surprise, Bungie are updating some of our original Destiny favourites. Shadow Price, LDR 5000, Badger CCL, familiar names to those who played before The Taken King, are being brought up to light level 335. It has also been announced some of the older exotic items are also making their way to the grand heights of 335 light, including the Feedback Fences, Patience and Time, and Queenbreaker’s Bow. Be aware, though, that these old legendary weapons will not be purchasable, and only obtainable through encrypting engrams.

Of course, what good is all this new stuff if we haven’t the space to store it? No worry, Bungie also announced that the vault has once again been increased, as well as a few other quality of life changes. Those of you who were frustrated with special Ghost not appearing when previewing them in your inventory, will now appear. They have also added the ability to reduce the visibility of the HUD, or remove it completely, so you can appreciate the truly beautiful world of Destiny. New emotes are coming, as well as a new Taken ship, and brand new sparrows including a special Variks version.

If you want to watch the full stream, it’s now available on demand on the Bungie Twitch channel, and the update will be available to download on April 12, on Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Active Soccer 2 DX released on Xbox One

Active Soccer 2DX

Every so often, a game sneaks under the radar that should be a classic. Active Soccer 2 DX could be that game.

Released today, priced £11.99 or your local currency equivalent, Active Soccer 2 DX is the follow-up to the mobile title of the same name. The most intriguing thing about this title is the fact that it’s an entirely one-man development team. Gianluca Troiano is The Fox Software and has mainly been developing games on mobile and tablet platforms, leading to a handheld console title and ultimately to releasing Active Soccer 2 DX on Xbox One.

So, what can you expect your moolah to buy, for what looks like a reminiscent mazy dribble down memory lane?

Active Soccer 2 DX will offer:

  • Up to eight local multiplayer game.
  • 850 team Career Mode with over 22,000 players, all with individual skills.
  • Classic teams and hundreds of legendary players.
  • Competition designer.
  • Complete team editor.
  • Variable weather conditions.
  • Interchangeable camera views.

There will obviously be some comparisons with the likes of the legendary Sensible Soccer and the equally legendary Kick Off. Active Soccer looks to carve it’s own niche in the arcade football genre, an alternative to the FIFA and PES’ of this new gen era.

Gianluca Troiano;

With Active Soccer 2 DX I wish the players found an alternative, fast, intuitive and engaging gaming. I would bring them to experience the emotions of the old classics soccer games, to fight on the pitch and cheer for a wonderful goal.

If you’re still to be convinced, have a look at the trailer below. You can find the game on the Xbox Store here when you’ve come to your senses.
