Third Black Ops III DLC incoming

Treyarch and Activision have recently announced the next DLC coming to Black Ops 3. Named Descent the dlc like previous content updates, will introduce 4 new maps into the game and also extend the already awesome Zombie experience. So expect the unexpected as you traverse and fight you way through a cryogenic prison, a Viking village frozen in time, a giant robot combat arena and a modern day reconstruction of an ancient Roman villa. What more could you ask for?

Details of the new maps are below;

  • Empire: Treyarch adapts its Black Ops III movement system to the Call of Duty: Black Ops II fan favourite map Raid.  The re-imagining of this classic, medium-sized map features an authentic Roman villa that has been “recreated by a modern-day eccentric billionaire,” where a classic map structure mixes with the new gameplay mechanics of Black Ops III.
  • Cryogen : Located far off the coast in the Dead Sea, an isolated compound holds some of the world’s most dangerous criminals in frozen isolation.  Sentry towers keep watch over the small map’s circular design as frenetic combat is funneled around the prison’s cryogenic tubes, where opportunities for wall running attacks abound.
  • Berserk: Ancient sentinels from a lost civilisation guard the entrance to Berserk, a Viking village frozen in time.  Players will fight through blizzards and control the centre bridge as they navigate this medium-sized map’s wooden buildings, deadly rocky outcroppings and tight chokepoints.
  • Rumble: Gamers battle amongst larger-than-life mechanised warriors in Rumble, a stadium where giant robots battle to the roar of the crowd.  This medium-sized map funnels high-speed combat to the central arena, where players battle their way through fallen mechs and pyrotechnics.

As always with any update the Zombie experience gets expanded and again you won’t be disappointed. Descent thrusts players in to an alternate universe of Nikolai’s motherland, the 1940s Soviet Union, in the next highly-anticipated chapter of the Origins Zombies saga, Gorod Krovi.  Players face-off against a swarm of mechanised zombie infantry and dodge hell-fire from aerial dragon assaults, all in the middle of a raging battle within the remnants of Stalingrad.  Gorod Krovi delivers the most exciting Zombies experience yet, filled with horrifying new enemies, exciting new gameplay mechanics and an epic set of Zombie annihilating weapons.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Descent will land on the PlayStation 4 on July 12th so expect it to be released for the Xbox One around the 9th August.

Competitive Play mode coming to Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment has annouced that Overwatch is getting a new game mode: Competitive Play. It’s available right now on PC, and will be arriving soon on the Xbox One.

Competitive Play is designed for those who truly want to put their skills to the test, and offers a more serious experience than Quick Play or Weekly Brawl! modes and because it’s for the serious gamers and to ensure that every player has a solid understanding of the game, the new mode, heroes and maps wont be unlocked until you reach level 25.

Before you start your competitive career, every new player will have to complete 10 placement matches in order to obtain their initial skill rating. This rating will be a number between 1 and 100, with higher values indicating a greater skill level. Skill ratings will be visible at the beginning of every match and as you compete, your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss based on a number of factors, including your own performance and the skill of the other players.

Overwatch_Competitive

Like other Competitive Play setups you will compete in four seasons, each lasting two and a half months. During that time, you can increase your skill rating and battle up the ranks before the stats are reset at the end of the season. This is followed by a two-week offseason, after which a new season will commence, beginning with a new set of placement matches.

In addition to the thrill of victory, players can earn new rewards that are only available through Competitive Play. At the end of a season, anyone who has completed the 10 placement matches will receive a special spray and player icon, with a new set of designs being released every season. On top of that as you win matches, you’ll earn Competitive Points. These points are based on your performance, and you’ll also receive a number of points at the end of each season. These Competitive Points can be exchanged for cosmetic Golden Weapons for your heroes.

Because of the more serious nature of the game mode, strict penalties will be in place to catch people leaving the game early or even stepping away from their console during the match, so ensure you make that all important toilet break. Players that continually suffer penalties due to inactive play or game infringements will see the Competitive Play mode locked for an increasing amount of time and could eventually be banned from the current season.

Team17 reveal Worms W.M.D full weapons set

Worms WMD

I’ve played Worms for a long time. Team17, Worms’ creators, have been gaming for 25 years and they’ve produced in Worms, a classic franchise that has stood the test of time. The latest iteration of the wriggly garden warfare merchants is due out later this year and the veteran developers are ready to show the world what destruction it will include.

Worms W.M.D will feature 35 standard weapons and utilities, including three brand spanking new and shiny weapons. The Dodgy Phone Battery, Unwanted Present and OMG strike are all going to make their debut in this title.

Launch the Dodgy Phone Battery on to the landscape and watch it deliver a short sharp shock to any worms that are unlucky enough to be in the vicinity. Don’t think you can hide behind metallic objects either as they’ll conduct this and you’ll still get a shocking surprise.

The Unwanted Present, speaking of surprises, will explode after a player-determined amount of turns. If you see one, run away, as it’ll be more trick than treat.

The OMG Strike will call in a satellite to fire down a laser capable of causing huge destruction. This rare new weapon is on a par with the Concrete Donkey and Armageddon.

On top of those, the recently revealed crafting feature adds the ability to craft many more new weapons such as the Bazooka Pie, Alloy Baseball Bat, Electric Sheep and Stinking Carpet Bomb. It’s this crafting ability that increases the weapons count to over 80 in total. Personalise your wormy battle with just the weapons you want to use as this will also add in more tactical gameplay.

Worms W.M.D will also feature up to six player local and online multiplayer fun as well as an extensive single player campaign.

Worms W.M.D will be available on Xbox One later this year. Here’s an overview of the weapons you could be aiming and firing at friend and foe alike, soon.

Loot Crate have been producing special one-off themed crates for gamers to go giddy over, now they are looking to produce a themed edition that runs over several months. The Halo Legendary crate will be one of the first to trial this, running over 12 months. There are six different Legendary crates for Halo fans to get excited for – and what’s in them? Who knows… that’s the best part, it’s a surprise.

343 Industries have partnered with Loot Crate for the Halo Legendary Loot Crate, so the contents will no doubt be awesome and packed with figures, apparel, collectibles, in-game items and several surprises. The first crate spotlights the SPARTAN-IVs and includes an exclusive figure that will form the heart of this first crate – it will be shown off at RTX 2016 and streamed over on twitch on Friday, July 1.
