Sharpen your swords, For Honor goes into open beta

Ubisoft’s latest closed beta of For Honor has just finished and now they are looking to open the battlefield to all warriors willing to spill the blood of their enemies in the name of beta testing.

From February 9-12 anyone can download the beta and swear allegiance to a faction – that’s either the Knights, Samurai or Vikings. The last test before the game release on February 14 will include the new Elimination mode, Dominion, Brawl and Duel.

The beta will also give warriors a head start on the first War of the Factions, which will continue when the game launches two days after the beta finishes.

If you fancy a taste of what For Honor is about, then check out Twitch from February 7, 2pm PST and watch a squad of celebrity warriors take on the new Elimination mode.

Bigben interactive go on the hunt with Hunting Simulator

Ah the hunting genre, and yet with all the shooters out there, it seems such an odd game to make. Yet it hasn’t stopped Cabela releasing hunt after hunt. Someone must buy these games otherwise the sequels would cease, and yet, I am yet to meet anyone who actually plays these games.

Bigben Interactive must see some potential in the genre because they have set their sights firmly on portraying a ‘true-to-life’ hunting experience – whatever that means – and are bringing Hunting Simulator to consoles, offering a ‘whole new experience’…

From the Rockies of Colorado to the forests of France and the freezing plains of Alaska, realistic AI animals are waiting to be hunted – it sounds a bit brutal doesn’t it! – in total there are 35 species of animals to hunt across 12 locations, and there’s even online co-op so you can share your hunt with a friend.

I’ve never seen the appeal in hunting games, the closest I’ve come is playing the excellent Far Cry, so can Bigben win me over? I doubt it, but it will be fun to see how this game is received.

Real life Ghost Recon: Wildlands Documentary announced

With Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands set for a March the 6th release date, Ubisoft have announced that they are working on a real life companion feature documentary. The feature length documentary shows an insight into the key players in the war on drugs for the past 30 years. Entitled “Wildlands” the documentary follows narrator Rusty Young on a fascinating journey exploring the cocaine trade on both sides of the law in South America.

Senior Vice president of Ubisoft had this to say about Wildlands:
