Trove gets a Megalithic Update on June 27th 2017

In case you have been living under a rock for the past year, you will all know that Trove is a free-to-play MMO on the Xbox One, and it gets its first major console update with the release of the Megalithic update on June 27th!

The Megalithic Update adds hours of new content with the Dino Tamer class, Jurassic Jungle biome, new mini-games, custom maps, and other features that expand the open world feel of Trove, which now has over 5 million players on consoles.

Players looking to craft, create, and battle their way through Trove will find the following new features in the Megalithic Update:

  • The Dino Tamer Class – Traveling through time from the Desert Frontier and emerging in the Jurassic Jungle, the Dino Tamer is a ravenous, ranged ruffian best equipped to survive the harsh wilderness. With the ability to use darts, snares and summon dinosaurs to attack or mount, the Dino Tamer is a player’s best bet at surviving prehistoric threats.
  • The Jurassic Jungle Biome – The new lush wilderness environment is full of dangerous dinosaurs and deadly dungeons. From dense jungle floor to towering canopies, the Jurassic Jungle biome features distinct enemies to fight and tons of dungeons to conquer. As players battle their way through this blast from the past, they will pick up all new styles and recipes to bring that extra retro look to the modern Trovian. That is, if raptors with razor-sharp claws, thick-skinned triceratops tanks, or the titanic Tyrannosaurus Rex don’t eradicate them first.
  • Minigames – At the top of the hour, players may find a portal in the Hub leading to one of two types of minigames – Racing and Coin Collecting – which offer more options for players looking to complete Hourly Challenges. Trovians who love a creative building challenge may now also build custom minigame maps within their own Club Worlds, invite other players to try out their custom club maps and vie for high scores and bragging rights.
  • More Free Content – Beginning with the Megalithic Update, Trovians can log in every day and receive a daily login bonus chest just for signing into Trove. Chaos Chests will also now drop for free just by playing the game, meaning players will have even more materials to use with the brand new Chaos Crafter bench to craft new costumes, allies, mounts and Class Unlockers.

More details on Trove can be found on the official blog.

Trove is also free to play and can be downloaded from the official Microsoft Store.

F1 2017 announces Williams Cars as their next Classic Racers

Williams has become the latest racing team to have classic cars replicated in F1 2017 which is coming from Codemasters on August 25th 2017. The two cars announced are:

  • 1992 Williams FW14B – Driven by Nigel Mansell and Riccardo Patrese during the 1992 Formula 1 season, the FW14B was the dominant car in which Mansell won the Drivers’ Championship, with a then record breaking nine wins in the season.
  • 1996 Williams FW18 – The most successful car of the 1996 season, winning 12 of the 16 races, with Damon Hill triumphing eight times to Jacques Villeneuve’s four, winning Hill the Drivers’ Championship title, and Williams the Constructors’ Championship.

This brings the total number of classic cars in F1 2017 up to 8 (as below), with 4 more still to be announced.

  • 1988 McLaren MP4/4
  • 1992 Williams FW14B
  • 1995 Ferrari 412 T2
  • 1996 Williams FW18
  • 2002 Ferrari F2002
  • 2004 Ferrari F2004
  • 2007 Ferrari F2007
  • 2010 Red Bull Racing RB6

Claire Williams, Deputy Team Principal, Williams Racing said: “The FW14B is one of our most iconic cars and one of my personal favourites. With Nigel Mansell behind the wheel, it was a force to be reckoned with and provided one of our greatest eras as a team in Formula One. The FW18 of 1996 is statistically our most successful ever car, winning 12 out of 16 races, six of which were one-two finishes, on our way to securing the Constructors’ title. We are delighted that these cars are being included in this year’s new F1 game for 2017. It is a special year for us as we celebrate our 40th anniversary, so a perfect moment to celebrate two cars that we are so proud of at Williams. We hope that gamers will love driving them as they remember some great moments from the history of our sport.”

Rainbow Six Siege’s Operation Health rolls out its first update

Ubisoft have been conducting a bit of housekeeping in the form of Operation Health. Implemented to balance the game by routing out exploits like manipulating the environment or getting a cheeky kill as the attackers spawn in.

Team TiX are particularly happy to see Glaz getting some attention and nerfed slightly – Dave was far too deadly with a sniper before they added that horrid sight that outlines enemies. Another area that is being worked on and rolled out in the update is a new technique to make matchmaking quicker, and finally, allowing you to equip and purchase new upgrades for your arsenal without being in the main menu screens.

For a full list of fixes check out the official Rainbow Six Siege website.

The next patch promises fixes to Hibana, Smoke grenade replication, aiming consistency, Alpha Pack Deployment, and other long-persisting issues.

Giveaway! Fluidic Antiproton Wrist Lance for Star Trek Online

To celebrate the console launch of Star Trek Online: Season 13 – Escalation, we’re teaming up with Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios to give some lucky winners a rare ground weapon for the game on Xbox One, the Fluidic Antiproton Wrist Lance.

To win, retweet the tweet below and we’ll select winners at random:

Fluidic Antiproton Wrist Lance

Undine weaponry utilises cohesive antiproton streams to damage foes. These streams are known to sometimes knock their opponents away while dealing additional physical damage. The primary fire of this particular wrist-mounted antiproton lance is similar to those adapted into Assault weapons that use this same energy technology. The secondary fire is radically different however, incorporating something akin to the “focused beam” technology sometimes seen in use on Undine starships. It can charge up a massive blast that will scar the surface of whatever the foe is standing on, sending out antiproton energy ripples that cause additional damage to anything they cross paths with.

To Redeem Your Code on Xbox One:

  1. Install Star Trek Online from the Xbox One marketplace.
  2. Upon launching Star Trek Online, you’ll have the option to link your gamertag with an Arc account. This will open the Internet browser on your Xbox One and you can complete the account linking process there. If you skip it now, you’ll have another opportunity later.
  3. Once you’re in Star Trek Online, select the Arc option.
  4. Install Arc. (You can also search for Arc in the Xbox One Marketplace)
  5. Launch Arc and hit the X button.
  6. Enter your code in the field and select “Redeem.”
  7. Visit the C-Store. Rewards can be found on the tab marked “Promotions.”

*These codes are only eligible for the Xbox One version of Star Trek Online and can only be redeemed by one character on a single account. The weapon is bound to character upon pickup.

Codes expire December 30, 2020.

Season 13 – Escalation is now live on PC, Xbox One and PS4! Learn more about this update by visiting our blog: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news

Watch Dogs and Dragon Age Origins now available on Games With Gold

Its reached June 16th (just where is this year going?), which means that 2 new Games With Gold are available for that magic price of FREE!

This time, its Watch Dogs and Dragon Age Origins that are available, and by my reckoning thats at least 200 hours of gaming for zero pounds. Watch Dogs took a little bit of criticism on release but I played it to death on release and loved it. Dragon Age Origins, although not my cup of tea, was critically acclaimed.

Links to the 2 games on Xbox.co.uk can be found here – Watch Dogs and Dragon Age Origins.

And don’t forget the awesome Speedrunners is still available if you are after some 4 player insane multiplayer action! Link here – Speedrunners.

Space Hulk : Deathwing announces Return to Olethros DLC

What do we all love? FREE content, thats what! It is quickly becoming the new alternative to paid DLC. However, the smarter ones amongst you will realise that Space Hulk: Deathwing is not even out yet on Xbox. However, the game, by developer Streumon Studio, is slated for a console release in Q4 2017 and all content released up to then on Steam, including Return to Olethros, will be included in the games “Enhanced Edition” launch on console.

Space Hulk: Deathwing is a First-Person Shooter experience of Games Workshop’s classic Space Hulk boardgame, set in the universe of Warhammer 40,000. Space Hulk: Deathwing offers players the chance to experience a desperate battle against Genestealers in the claustrophobic tunnels of a Space Hulk, as they will gain skills, new abilities and new equipment thanks to experience earned during perilous missions. Space Hulks drift along the currents of the Warp, the immaterial dimension of Chaos. Made up of gigantic mangled asteroids, derelict ship wrecks and other spatial debris, they sometimes grow to the size of a moon and often contain treasured and ancient lost technologies. However, they are ripe with danger including infestations of the lethal Genestealers. Players take on the role of a Space Marine from one of the most secret and most feared Space Marine Companies: the Deathwing from the Dark Angels. Strap on your Terminator armour and equip the emblematic weaponry of the Space Marines to overcome the threats awaiting you in the Space Hulk. As a Librarian, you will also master the destructive powers of the Psykers. Your skills and performance in battle grant you Fervor Points, to spend on 4 skill trees allowing you to improve your abilities, unlock new powers, access powerful relics and devastating new weapons.

The Return to Olethros update brings the well-received Special Missions mode to every Chapter in the game, in both solo and multiplayer. This mode generates randomised objectives and enemy spawns, bringing a new level of uncertainty and replayability for even the most seasoned squads of Space Hulk veterans.
