Epic Games Shut Down Impossible Studio’s

epicgames1

Tim Sweeney – Founder of Epic Games has taken to the Epic Games Blog to announce that Epic owned ‘Impossible Studios’ will be closed down. It was only six-months ago that Epic had announced that they were opening up a new studio, Epic Games Baltimore (later renamed to Impossible Stuidos in August 2012), which was made up of members from 38 Studios’ Big Huge Games and the developers of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Impossible Studios has been around the block a few times since being founded in 2000 having been previously aquired by THQ in 2008, 38 Studios in 2009 – and more recently Epic Games in 20012 who has additionally offered the team the opportunity to form a new company with the same name after parting ways with Epic.

Taken from the Epic Blog:

We’re closing Impossible Studios

When former members of Big Huge Games approached Epic last year, we saw the opportunity to help a great group of people while putting them to work on a project that needed a team. It was a bold initiative and the Impossible folks made a gallant effort, but ultimately it wasn’t working out for Epic.

In addition to providing Impossible Studios employees with 3 months of severance pay, we’ll be giving the team the opportunity to form a new company with the Impossible Studios name and the awesome Impossibear logo.

This means that Infinity Blade: Dungeons is now on hold as we figure out the future of the project.
