Bungie’s follow up to the Halo universe since parting ways with the franchise at the release of Halo Reach in 2010, is a game codenamed “Destiny”. Very few details about the next project has been revealed so far, but leaked documents and concept art sent to IGN has at least confirmed small story snippets.
An IGN reader had leaked materials to them directly today, leading us to wonder if some leaks are perhaps more intentional than they first appear? However, regardless of who leaked the information the story has been described as a little less mature than the Halo Franchise with Bungie co-founder Jason Jones quoting “Destiny is designed for your inner seven year old. We want to make it feel like a mythic adventure.”
As per the leaked document regarding Destiny:
“Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man’s Golden Age. A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it’s our protector. Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights’ tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and – eventually – overcoming it.”
Previously we had reported that Destiny was outed as part of the lawsuit between Activision and Infinity Ward’s ex founders, Jason West and Vince Zampella – documents had outlined a four game plan with the first release on next-gen Xbox consoles in Fall 2013.
With the Xbox 360 logo marked on the recent leaked documents sent to IGN – it seems Destiny could be a game for both current and next-gen consoles from Microsoft?
