Previously we reported that the next title in the Call of Duty franchise for the current-gen Xbox 360 was to be Call of Duty: Ghosts as outed by UK retailer TESCO. New information has come to light from the page that mysteriously appeared, then vanished, suggesting a release date of November 4th 2013.
As well as the release date (which I would take with a pinch of salt) the confirmed news more likely true is the following statement revealed on the listing page:
The franchise that has defined a generation of gaming is set to raise the bar once again with the all-new Call of Duty: Ghosts. Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, the studio that created the original Call of Duty and the seminal Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series. Call of Duty: Ghosts ushers in the next generation of the franchise, delivering a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast, all powered by a new next-generation Call of Duty engine.
No official announcement has been made by Activision with a May 1st reveal on the cards looking likely, and it is not yet known if the game will be available for the next-gen Xbox console which will be announced on May 21st. Sledgehammer Games, and NeverSoft have both been at work on something unannounced for the Call of Duty addicts out there – with Call of Duty Ghosts coming from Infinity Ward, then an additional game for next-gen could be developed by the other developers?
