Anyone out there who can remember the original Carmageddon when it was released in the late ’90’s? If you can then you might be pleased to learn that a re-incarnate of the once popular, violent vehicular combat game is set for next-gen release. Carmageddon: Reincarnation is still currently in development.
Thanks to a KickStarter campaign by the developers Stainless Games, the company managed to achieve a $625,000.00 target when the game was intended for a reboot on mobile platforms. Now with an added $3.5 million investment from BullFrog Productions founder Les Edgar – the total can now be sure to see the title enhanced and polished for next-gen launch sometime after the mobile version hits December this year.
Patrick Buckland, CEO of Stainless Games quoted:
We are delighted to have fully funded Carmageddon: Reincarnation without having to go outside of the collective of our own company, shareholders and fans … It allows us to maintain a true independence and creative control whilst not having to compromise quality or content by budgetary constraints. For an independent, privately owned company to achieve this, is a testament to our strength and to the loyalty of our fans.
A work in progress of the mobile version is available to view below. When more information drops on the future platforms with screens and trailers – we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
