Crackdown 3 paving the way for cloud gaming

Crackdown has been an extremely successful series so far. With Crackdown 1 debuting on the Xbox 360 nearly 10 years ago and Crackdown 2 living up to expectations it’s only right that the open world chaos is showing a presence on next gen.

With technology moving on so significantly from it’s first release it appears that Crackdown 3 will use Microsoft’s Azure servers for part of it’s Multiplayer experience, namely destruction.

Leveling up your agent meant for bigger and more destructive weapons but the originals didn’t really have any destruction within the game but it seems now it does. Crackdown 3 will allow players to fire rocket launchers into buildings and watch as it crumbles in real time changing the landscape and possibilities of the game.

The character animations and controls are handled offline and the rest online, however relying on the internet to give you results in a matter of milliseconds is a big ask so the destruction is completely hidden within the design of the game making for a smooth transition.

I have to be honest I’m quite excited by this prospect, I loved the first 2 Crackdown’s and if this is going to deliver what it promises then 2017 can’t come soon enough. Crackdown 3 will be available for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC’s

Below is IGN’s demo video from Gamescom 2015, just keep in mind this was a year ago and with a year to release I think it’s going to be 10 times better.
