It has been reported to MCV that for the first time in it’s 17 year history, the annual E3 expo in June this year will unveil three next-gen rival consoles, same time, same place – the Wii U, as well as the next generation of Xbox and Playstation consoles.
It is understood that pricing and launch details of the Next Box, Xbox 720, Xbox 3, Xbox Loop or whatever you prefer to call it until the official naming has been announced, will not be revealed in full. The idea behind this first reveal method is not to be left behind, and the perfect spoiler to the Wii U’s pre-holiday launch date reveal.
Recently, a patent has also been granted to allow Microsoft to implement DVR functionality into the next Xbox console and it is rumored that because it’s hardware is an upgraded 360 counterpart, it will play every past, present and future Xbox 360 games and Xbox LIVE Arcade games without the need for emulation. Two bundles may be released featuring one higher priced pack complete with Kinect 2.0 – a next-gen motion sensor that can even lip read. Maybe it’s a good time to start saving up for it now?
When future leaks or official announcements are made, we’ll be sure to keep you informed. This years E3 event will take place in LA between June 5th – 7th, 2012.
