Respawn Entertainment, founded by Jason West and Vince Zampella who helped bring the greatest first person shooter in the world into our homes – Call of Duty, have teased an image of their next great creation since leaving Infinity Ward, set to be published by EA Games. (…so it’s bound to have an Online Pass…)
“Respawn Entertainment marks a fresh start for Jason and me,” said Vince Zampella, General Manager of Respawn Entertainment. “For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise. We’re very proud of what we built — and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games…”
“We’re excited,” added Jason West, President of Respawn Entertainment. “Now that the team is in control of the games and brands, we can ensure that the fans are treated as well as they deserve.”
With such leading key members of the Call of Duty franchise working on a new title for EA Games, this could potentially be the successor to Modern Warfare and blow its domination within the industry to pieces. West and Zampella have not yet announced what the first title from Respawn might be and if it would directly compete with Call of Duty, but in an interview with LA Times, April 2010 – West did say he expected it to be of “huge, summer blockbuster” scale – adding that they would consider turning their games into films, comic books and other media.
The teased image is shown above and can also be found on Respawn’s Official Website. Any further updates and we’ll keep you posted.
