Earlier today, THQ was auctioned off and will eventually dissolve into a distant memory. The company no longer trading, staff losses (so unfortunate) and remaining assets of value have now been snapped up by other firms you already know and likely love…
The final results of the auction were outlined in a letter from THQ CEO Brian Farrell, which was also shown in full to Kotaku.
- Sega agreed to purchase Relic
- Koch Media agreed to purchase Volition and Metro
- Crytek agreed to purchase Homefront
- Take 2 agreed to purchase Evolve
- Ubisoft agreed to purchase THQ Montreal and South Park
“Some assets, including our publishing businesses and Vigil, along with some other
intellectual properties are not included in the sale agreements,” Farrell added.
“They will remain part of the Chapter 11 case. We will make every effort to find appropriate buyers, if possible.”
Koch Media owned Deep Silver (Dead Island, Risen) have already expressed on twitter their excitement for the future of Saints Row, and Metro, now in their hands.
We’re SO EXCITED to be cooperating with @volitioninc and 4A Games on a future for Saints Row and Metro that is faithful to their franchises!
