First Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC Detailed

DLC

Call of Duty Elite Subscribers can look forward to the first ounce of fresh new content on January 24th, as previously reported last month.

Whilst those without an Elite Subscription will have to wait until March before they can get their hands on the new content (this is because January and February’s early Elite DLC will be bundled), those with Elite can look forward to two brand new maps as a starter to the monthly content drops.

“The first content drop will be traditional multiplayer maps with Park [Liberation] and Coast [Piazza],” explained Rober Bowling (IW’s Creative Strategist to EuroGamer. In reference to Piazza, “…It’s the seaside village in Italy. Just visually alone it’s a beautiful map – this mountainside village on the ocean. Not only visually, but the gameplay it offers is very unique to anything else in Modern Warfare 3.

“In the future we hope to do a whole variety of stuff. New game modes that we’ve never seen before, missions, spec ops mission, spec ops survival modes and a whole variety of other stuff that we’re looking to experiment with as well…”

The first two multiplayer maps will also be fully playable in Modern Warfare 3 Survival Mode — that throw combatants into a war-torn Central Park and an Italian seaside village. Liberation is a vast, militarized landscape, ripe for long-range sniper and LMG fire, with mounted turrets on either end that lend power to anyone brave enough to expose themselves in exchange for deadly firepower. Piazza is the idyllic Italian getaway that is anything but, where tight corners and branching pathways pose great risk at every turn. Close-range combat dominates in Piazza, where attacks from behind, above and below are an ever-constant threat.

In order to download the new content an in-game notification will alert you of the DLC updates as well as introduce exclusive DLC playlists. There is not cut off point in becoming an Elite Subscriber if you wish to receive the new content as it comes in its early form, so if you are toying with the idea, or just don’t want to wait until March to get on the new maps – then you are still free to grab a subscription from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Expect the next content drop Mid February for Elite Subscribers, more details to be revealed soon.
