Every so often, a game comes along that reminds me of playing something else. For me, just looking at the trailers, Super Mutant Alien Assault reminds me of the Rick Dangerous games from the days of the Commodore Amiga. This, of course, is a good thing.
Surprise Attack Games have today released Cybernate’s Super Mutant Alien Assault and they’ve celebrated by creating the release trailer below.
What can you expect in this new platform-shooter? Well, it takes inspiration from unforgiving classics such as Vlambeer’s Super Crate Box, Super Mutant Alien Assault is described as a dance with death across randomised single-screen levels where dodging is just as important as shooting if you hope to survive.
The solo campaign promises to be frantic, but in local co-op, a second robot enters the fray and ramps the action up to mayhem level.
You can unlock a wide range of weapons, explosive, sidearms, special abilities, perks and defensive moves. Each level is a randomised combination of vending machines, layout enemies and objectives.
These require ever-increasing skill levels to master and the more you unlock, the more the game changes.
Super Mutant Alien Assault is out today, priced £7.99!
