It might not feel all that long since we had the latest Metro Dashboard update for all the Xbox 360 consoles connected to Xbox LIVE, but it seems Microsoft have a few more new tricks up their sleeve as internal staff are set to beta test new features inbound for the console later this year.
No specific details has been made available as to what is being tested, but it could mean a whole bunch of new features are set to arrive on the dashboard following some announcements at this years E3 2012 early June. Microsoft have already given the heads up that no new console announcement (so they say) will be taking place this year as the focus of attention will STILL be on the Xbox 360:
“…This year, we will deliver more TV, music, and movie experiences for Xbox 360-as we’ll make it even easier to find and control all your entertainment. And this year, Xbox games, music, and video are coming to Windows 8 so people can enjoy their Xbox entertainment wherever they go.”
The Spring 2012 Dashboard Beta Test for Microsoft staff could be for new features that tie in with Windows 8, exciting new entertainment Apps, and probably nothing to do with what we really wish for… Kinect to actually use its RGB camera to send picture messages without LIVE Vision, the ability to extend our friends list past the 100 mark, the option to group friends, the ability to choose what Apps we want pinned on the dashboard App page – and most of all, a dashboard that doesn’t freeze with every press of the guide button!
When Microsoft announce all the potentially exciting goodness set to grace our dashboards this year – we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
What would you like to see in the next dashboard update?
