Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry was one of many to highlight how the new Metro Style dashboard seemed like a step down than an upgrade when it came to video apps, concluding that the video player in the new interface didn’t work properly! Tests showed that colour reproduction in video playback was faulty, having used Photoshop color level histograms to analyse output from two Xbox 360 consoles – one before and one after the update.
Microsoft’s Director of Programming, Larry Hryb – best known as Major Nelson around the globe has informed followers to his twitter account that a fix for the colour issues are being worked on.
Quoted by @MajorNelson:
We’re aware of the colorspace issue w/ some Xbox video apps & are working on a fix. No ETA yet but we hope to have an update soon.
When a new fix is about to roll out, we’ll keep you updated.
