Microsoft – Games With Gold To Be Extended

Microsoft have just announced via Xbox Wire, their news site for all things Xbox, that the Games With Gold promotion which started at E3 in June and was meant to run through the build up to the launch of the Xbox One till end of 2013, will now be extended as an ongoing benefit for Xbox 360 gamers.

Whether they are blockbuster AAA or popular arcade titles, Games with Gold continues to offer a diverse mix of games with two free Xbox 360 titles a month – yours to keep and at no additional cost. According to recent surveys, 97 percent of participating members have given their stamp of approval for Games with Gold, and we’re excited to continue bringing you great games every month as part of our ongoing commitment to providing great value on Xbox 360

The promotion has kind of been hit and miss for some Xbox gamers, with one Arcade title and one old AAA title given each month, some have seen it as a good thing and some have seen the outdated games on offer as not much of a reward at all. But free is free, and whilst it still needs work to be a competitive benefit compared to other subscription offers on other platforms, with the promotion being continued there is room for Microsoft to make better use of it for those not yet making the move to Xbox One, launching in just a month.

Remember that currently HALO 3 is available for free as part of Games With Gold, so will have to see what the Microsoft tends to bring to the promotion as it continues into next year.
