Neil Blomkamp Rumoured To Direct New Halo Series for Xbox LIVE

During Microsoft’s Xbox One conference last May 2013, it was announced that Steven Spielberg would be working on a new live action Halo series for Xbox LIVE. It will be produced in conjunction with the Halo’s lead developer 343 Industries who took over the realm of the Halo Universe from its founder Bungie.

Spielberg quoted by video during the Xbox One conference:

For me, the Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and myth-making meet…

Not so much has been heard or leaked since the announcement, but Latino Review, a site dedicated to bringing reviews of the latest American Movies to the English speaking Latin-American audience, has been reliably informed that Neil Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) will be directing the Halo pilot for Xbox LIVE! If you are not familiar with the name, Blomkamp is no stranger to Halo having already directed a trilogy of live-action shorts set in the Halo universe promoting Halo 3, and was due to produce a Halo movie in the works under the direction of Peter Jackson which has gone all stale!

When “official” announcements are in, we’ll keep you updated.

Thanks: Latino Review
