New Tomb Raider for 2012 Now in Alpha Status

Xbox 360

Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that the new Tomb Raider reboot due to be released later this year has now reached Alpha Status. This now means the game is fully complete and due for continued bug testing before a Beta stage and then Gold Status.

Tomb Raider will debut simultaneously on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 – with no confirmed Wii U released due to development timing as quoted by Global Brand Director Karl Stewart:

“Given that we’ve been working on the game quite a while before Wii U was announced I think it would not be right to try and port it across. If we started building a game for the Wii U we would build it very differently and we would build it with unique functionality.”

Armed with only the raw instincts and physical ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Tomb Raider delivers an intense and gritty story into the origins of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to a hardened survivor – due for worldwide release in the Fall of 2012.

We seriously can’t wait!
