New Xbox One Experience won’t support hand gestures

The New Xbox One Experience launches tomorrow, November 12, to the public. It was confirmed this week that hand gestures will no longer work on the dashboard, voice commands however, will.

According to Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra, the feature was barely used, which is why the new dashboard ditched them.

Speaking to Windows Central, he said

On gestures, when we looked at the New Xbox One Experience we wanted to prioritize features that customers were asking for, plus areas of improvement from the existing Xbox One UI, with gestures, the reality was the usage was very, very low. So for now, we’ve cut that from the New Xbox One Experience.

Ybarra confirmed although the feature was going that they could always return if feedback suggests fans want them back.
