Peter Molyneux has announced his intentions to quit Microsoft and Lionhead Studio’s today. The news was confirmed on Twitter and in more depth over at Kotaku where it was announced that his departure would come after kinect enabled game – Fable: The Journey.
He is leaving his position as the leader of Lionhead Studio’s and his role as the creative head of Microsoft Studios Europe. The development team for Lionhead will now be managed by studio co-founder Mark Webley, and a new creative head for Microsoft Studio’s Europe has not been announced.
Molyneux to Kotaku:
“It is with mixed emotions that I made the decision to leave Microsoft and Lionhead Studios, the company that I co-founded in 1997, at the conclusion of development of Fable: The Journey.,”
Microsoft has wished Molyneux future success in a statement, describing him as one of the “most passionate and influential developers for the Xbox 360 platform.” It is not the last you’ll hear from one of the worlds most respected developer’s as he also announced via Twitter his new venture – 22 CANS.
