Purely speculation as with all things exciting and next-gen related comes a ton of rumours and leaks that may or may not be true, but recently an image of what could be the next-gen Xbox logo has appeared on an image sharing site called 4CHAN. The website is a popular image board dedicated to a variety of topics, from Japanese animation and culture to videogames, music, and photography.
The logo has since been removed fueling speculation that it is indeed real, and it is meant to be a captured image from a screen using the Xbox Durango Dev kits. The image resembles an 8 figure and turns on its side to represent an infinity sign. Around this time last year we had received a message from a developer who quit his job that the next Xbox could be called “Xbox 8”, but this has neither been confirmed or denied. Interestingly in the leak last year we were also told about the set-top box alternative to a full Xbox console, long before that went mainstream towards the later part of 2012.
The use of Xbox in lowercase within the supoosed logo doesn’t make it appear very ‘real’ to us, but it could be something temporary attached to development kits whilst the final name and logo is still yet to be revealed.
When Microsoft finally do unveil something next-gen related, we’ll keep you posted and mark it official.
