Power Up @ The Science Museum begins today

Great

How long have you played games for? I’m remember my old man coming home form the pub with the Pong arcade game machine and it being the best thing ever. Since then I’ve played all manner of games on all sorts of consoles. Thanks to the Science Museum you can relive all your gaming memories at their new Power Up exhibition which opens today.

TiX were kindly invited along to the launch of the exhibition last night to experience 40 years of consoles. There were over 160 systems and hundreds of games to play with something for everyone, Pacman, Halo 7 Mario Kart were all present. People of all ages were able to experience the early programmable computers right through to the latest titles on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Occulus Rift.

PowerUp-1

I took along my wife and two boys, who spent most of their time playing games like Ready to Rumble and the original Crash Bandicoot, which just goes to show how much appeal there is to the old generations of games. There were multiplayer rigs set up for Halo 3 action as well League of Legends and Rocket League stations set up also.

The room is split into different sections – There are series of games such as Sonic, or genres such as rhythm and driving games, my favourite though had to be the timeline section, a table that spanned the width of the room taking you through every machine imaginable. It was great to see the younger people there, trying out the older machines.

We had a great time there and you can too, check out all of the ticket details below. Let us know if you go along!

Dave is the co-owner of TIX - When the site breaks, it's his fault! You'll find him playing a lot of FIFA and removing heads with ease on Gears of War with the longshot...
