Ubisoft’s highly anticipated return to the Rainbow Six IP has hit a 7 week snag as, following extensive internal play-testing and closed alpha testing, Ubisoft Montreal have taken the decision to postpone the release of the title until December 1st 2015.
An update from the development team today confirmed that although the game release has been delayed, they have decided to go ahead with the September 24th date for the closed beta.
The development team update stated
The additional time will allow us to further test things like infrastructure and matchmaking. That extra testing and added polish will make for a higher-quality experience at launch.
We understand that many of you are excited to get your hands on the final game, but as gamers ourselves we know that quality comes first and we are committed to delivering the best game possible.
I for one am a little disappointed I wont be getting my hands on the full game on the 13th of October, but on the other hand if they need extra time to ensure the quality of the game I am happy they are being up front about their passion and commitment to deliver a top quality game.
This transparency from Ubisoft has been a welcome change following the public outcry over the release of Assassins Creed last year, and long may it continue.
