Battlefield 4 for Xbox One Includes Kinect Functionality

battlefield 4 construction

Dice has confirmed via GameInformer that the edition of Battlefield 4 for Microsoft’s Xbox One console will include Kinect functionality. It hasn’t been greatly detailed nor confirmed if the Xbox 360 version will come with the same features.

“We have a pretty pragmatic view [on the new Kinect],” DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson explained in the latest issue of Game Informer. “Instead of just trying to tick all the boxes of features you can do with new hardware, we look at what actually adds value [for] our players.

“When you look at the kind of games that we build – or Battlefield at least – it is a first-person shooter that is very much about skill. Input is really important. You need to have very precise control over what’s going on, and trying to do something like that with motion control input does not make sense – not if you want to keep the same kind of formula of the game as we [have] now. You’d need to build a different kind of shooter.

“But there are other places where it will make sense, and we are going to use it for other things in the game, but we haven’t announced exactly what.”

All will be revealed soon enough – we’ll keep you updated soon as word hits the ground!

This demo will give players the opportunity to prepare for battle on at sea, on land and in the air on the all-improved Frostbite 3 Engine technology.

Battlefield-41-610x335

EA are absolutely great at leaking out their own information when it comes to updating their websites earlier than need be – cough cough Crysis 3! The latest leak this time comes from the German EA Games site that lists Battlefield 4 as having a release of October 31st 2013 in Europe.

The release date is also more likely to be for the current-gen systems as next gen platforms have not yet been officially dated. Previously we reported that Microsoft outed the Battlefield 4 release date in a blog-style post on the Xbox forums – this is now assumed to be for the North American release on October 29th 2013 with an EU date set for October 31st 2013.

We heard the news via N3RDABL3, but when EA do get round to making some official announcements soon – we’ll certainly keep you posted.

Battlefield 4 Dated for October 29 Says Microsoft

Battlefield-41-610x335

Microsoft has outed the Battlefield 4 release date for current-gen systems as October 29th 2013. In a post made by EDITER today on the Xbox blog the revealed date appeared in the opening paragraph.

Only in Battlefield can players go through a building instead of around it, eject from a jet and take out the enemy mid-free fall, or flip a tank. DICE, a studio of Electronic Arts, announced that Battlefield 4 will arrive on the Xbox 360 on October 29, 2013.

EA themselves have only given a vague date as of Fall 2013 with many gamers focussed on a likely next-gen version which is due to drop this year also. However, as a confirmed date for the release of the next-gen Xbox hardware has not been announced; with all the great AAA games heading our way this Fall – it’s a safe bet a new console will be out in time for their release.

The date has been sat on Xbox.com since Wednesday, but we only found out today via AllGamesBeta.
