Brigitte is announced as new hero coming to Overwatch

Overwatch is another example of a game that just keeps going from strength to strength with the addition of new characters, maps and events. The latest news from Blizzard is the introduction of Brigitte to the already strong roster of heroes.

Brigitte is the daughter of Overwatch hero Torbjorn, and is a support character but who has a lot of similarities with the games “Tank” class. Brigitte specializes in armor. She can throw Repair Packs to heal teammates, or automatically heal nearby allies when she damages foes with her Flail. Her Flail is capable of a wide swing to strike multiple targets, or a Whip Shot that stuns an enemy at range. When entering the fray, Barrier Shield provides personal defense while she attacks enemies with Shield Bash. Brigitte’s ultimate ability, Rally, gives her a substantial short-term boost of speed and provides long-lasting armor to all her nearby allies.

More details can be found in the below video where Game Director Jeff Kaplan describes Brigitte in the latest developer update.

Overwatch: Sombra – the truth revealed.

Keen players of Overwatch would, unless they have been living in a cave for the last few months, heard of the name Sombra being thrown around various forums and chat channels. This mysterious figure has for some time been the hot topic of debate, ranging from what, to who, to how, and the speculation and also frustration from players has been intense, especially when it’s been teased and played with by the team at Blizzard themselves. Well the mystery is now over and ladies and gentleman, I give you SOMBRA.

Sombra brings a whole host of new talents to Overwatch, and it’s looking like she will be a real handful in a fight. An overview of her skills and abilities are as follows:

Overwatch Sombra Abilities

So who is the mysterious girl that everyone has been talking about for so long, where does she come from and what is her background? Well the nice people at Blizzard like with every other character in the game have put a backstory together for her. So sit back, relax, and let’s learn a little more about this notorious hacker.

Finally but not least we have a little animated short called “Infiltration”, where we see Sombra working with Reaper and Windowmaker on an Assassination mission. However not everything is what it seems and it looks like Sombra has her own agenda. So what do you think of Sombra now that she has been finally revealed, drop us a comment and let us know? Prepare to be spooked in Overwatch Halloween Terror

From now until November 1st our friends at Blizzard Entertainment have brought another event driven change to Overwatch, Halloween. See your favorite characters all dressed up for the occasion, but wait are you brave enough to face Junkenstein’s Revenge?

As like the Olympic event, standard loot boxes have been replaced with Halloween Terror loot boxes, rewarding players with a whole host of new customisations for their characters. Fancy a vampiric Symmetra skin, a witches costume for Mercy or even Junkrat’s Professor Junkenstein outfit, the loot boxes contain over 100 new cosmetic items including skins, sprays, victory poses, emotes, highlight intros, player icons and voice lines! Every time you level up you will be rewarded with a Halloween Terror loot box or you can purchase the new customisations with in game credits or through the in-game shop (this is sure to disappoint a few people).

On top of the subtle changes to the maps and the new character customisations, players will also be able to take part in Overwatch’s first-ever co-op PvE Brawl:  Junkenstein’s Revenge. Team up with three other players and face off against a host of eerie enemies, including Dr. Junkenstein himself, Junkenstein’s Monster, the Reaper, a mysterious witch, and host of shambling zomnics.

Players will choose from the Alchemist (Ana), the Archer (Hanzo), the Gunslinger (McCree), or the Soldier (Soldier: 76) and defend Adlersbrunn castle’s doors against Dr. Junkenstein’s onslaught. Heroes will need to work together and develop strategies to withstand not only the advances of his macabre entourage, but also wave after wave of zomnic attacks. Are you brave enough to accept the challenge?

New Overwatch Hero confirmed – Ana Amari

It was only seven days ago that I was writing about a gun blueprint that was published on Overwatch’s official twitter feed clarifying the rumours of a new character coming to the game. Well the rumours and speculations are now over and Blizzard Entertainment would like to introduce us to Ana Amari.

This Bounty Hunter and former founding member of Overwatch uses her expert skills as a marksman to affect heroes all over the battlefield. Armed with her Biotic Rifle and Grenades she can heal allies and damage or impair enemies. She also carries around a sidearm armed with tranquilizers to subdue hostile targets and Nano Boosts to give her comrades considerable increases in power. Used at the correct time she is a lethal and effective member of the team.

Ana doesnt come without her scars though and let’s just say she is not great friends with Windowmaker who had supposedly killed her during a hostage rescue mission. You can check out Ana’s full background story in the clip below.

Ana is currently in the Overwatch PTR (Public Test Realm) so expect her to be joining the cast of Heroes in the game soon. For further information on Ana or Overwatch in general check out the Official Website.

Does gun blueprint reveal next character coming to Overwatch?

Overwatch is a game like Marmite, you either love it or hate it and this goes true for us at TiX. I personally love the game and therefore was excited to see a post by Blizzard yesterday on their twitter feed giving us potentially the most reliable clue to date on the next playable character for the game.

Overwatch Gun Blueprint

As you can see from the blueprint above there is a discussion around a Biotic Rifle that has Mercy’s Caduceus Staff and Soldier: 76’s Biotic Field healing ability incorporated in to it. This leads to the assumption that the weapon above will be used for healing at range but also poisoning perhaps if Mercy’s comments are anything to go by. So is this the infamous character called Sombra who is referenced by Reaper in one of his voice lines, “Where’s Sombra when you need her?” and who has also been discovered in hints that have been hidden in the Mexican Map Dorado.

So watch this space and let’s hope that Blizzard keep to their word when they stated that all new characters coming to Overwatch would be free.

Competitive Play mode coming to Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment has annouced that Overwatch is getting a new game mode: Competitive Play. It’s available right now on PC, and will be arriving soon on the Xbox One.

Competitive Play is designed for those who truly want to put their skills to the test, and offers a more serious experience than Quick Play or Weekly Brawl! modes and because it’s for the serious gamers and to ensure that every player has a solid understanding of the game, the new mode, heroes and maps wont be unlocked until you reach level 25.

Before you start your competitive career, every new player will have to complete 10 placement matches in order to obtain their initial skill rating. This rating will be a number between 1 and 100, with higher values indicating a greater skill level. Skill ratings will be visible at the beginning of every match and as you compete, your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss based on a number of factors, including your own performance and the skill of the other players.

Overwatch_Competitive

Like other Competitive Play setups you will compete in four seasons, each lasting two and a half months. During that time, you can increase your skill rating and battle up the ranks before the stats are reset at the end of the season. This is followed by a two-week offseason, after which a new season will commence, beginning with a new set of placement matches.

In addition to the thrill of victory, players can earn new rewards that are only available through Competitive Play. At the end of a season, anyone who has completed the 10 placement matches will receive a special spray and player icon, with a new set of designs being released every season. On top of that as you win matches, you’ll earn Competitive Points. These points are based on your performance, and you’ll also receive a number of points at the end of each season. These Competitive Points can be exchanged for cosmetic Golden Weapons for your heroes.

Because of the more serious nature of the game mode, strict penalties will be in place to catch people leaving the game early or even stepping away from their console during the match, so ensure you make that all important toilet break. Players that continually suffer penalties due to inactive play or game infringements will see the Competitive Play mode locked for an increasing amount of time and could eventually be banned from the current season.

For more information on the new Competitve Play mode, check out the official site and while you are at it why dont you check out what we thought of the game in our review.
