Gearbox has announced that they will be bringing Borderlands 2 and The Pre-sequel (with enough DLC to fill Moxxi’s corset) to the XboxOne.
Why no Borderlands? The collection is going to be called The Handsome Jack Collection, so it’s going to be telling the story of the infamous villain of Borderlands 2 (therefore Borderlands will not be included in the collection). There are to be updates done to the title’s including 2 player split screen turning into 4 player splitscreen, and the game getting done over to be even more HDier than before, apparently.
In addition to that, if you have the games on the 360 already – or at least played them – there’s to be a cross save feature that will allow you to transfer your character over allowing you to pick up where you left off.
As you expect with these collections, you’ll get all the DLC available bundled with the collection too.
The Handsome Jack Collection is due to be released on the 24 March in the US, before coming over the UK on the 27 March.
* There’s also a variation of the game that comes with an RC Claptrap, but it costs more than your average game, as you’d expect with an added toy like that. If you want to go down that root and purchase that, it will cost you about $400 USD. But the RC Claptrap is pretty neat, as you can see below.
A multi-platform game named “Borderlands remastered edition” has been spotted over on the Australian classification board – could we be getting a new version of Borderlands?
There’s a current trend of rehashing the more popular titles from the Xbox 360 onto the Xbox One with added HD paint and the inclusion of all previously released DLC. Could this entry be a sign that Borderlands is next and if it is then I hope that the title includes both games plus all the DLC – a real bonus would be to include the recently released Borderlands The Pre-Sequel, now I know I’m dreaming!
Seriously though, how much more can you make the excellent cell-shaded graphics of Borderlands look “HD” or “new-gen”!
Since it’s release in 2012, Borderlands 2 from Gearbox Software and published by 2K has been well supported with multiple DLC packs adding more weapons and story expansions packs. On April 15th, the final DLC pack “Sir Hammerlock Versus The Son of Crawmerax” will be released on Xbox Store for just £2.39.
The DLC will have players playing alongside Sir Hammerlock,Brick, Mordecai, and Lilith on a relaxing vacation on Wam Bam Island as you play the biggest Headhunter add-on in the series. At first, everything appears peaceful as Sir Hammerlock shows off his homemade brew and talks about the latest in Varkid tracking… that is, until tragedy strikes when a monstrously large beast kidnaps the scholarly hunter and pulls him underground. Fortunately, Crazy Earl and Mordecai are on hand to help recover the mustached colleague, provided you do a few favors for them first.
Your journey across Wam Bam Island culminates in a battle against a foe that may look familiar to some – Crawmerax Jr., the son of the great crab worm from The Secret Armory of General Knoxx add-on from the original Borderlands. Crawmerax Jr. is seeking vengeance on Lilith, Brick and Mordercai for brutally defeating his father over and over again. You must fight him off without their help so, you may want to call some friends to help you out with this one.
This shaping up to be quite the swansong for Borderlands 2 DLC and at a price that will encourage all Vault Hunters to return for one last story.
Via their Twitter accounts, both 2K and Gearbox have confirmed the speculation and announced that a GOTY edition of Borderlands 2 is to be released October 8th in US and 11th for Europe and other regions.
President of Gearbox Software, Randy Pitchford, had this to say: “For us and for fans, the love for Borderlands 2 has been nothing short of spectacular, so it’s natural for us here at Gearbox Software to want everyone else to have a chance to experience the best-selling game and its most valuable expansion content, the Borderlands 2 GOTY Edition offers more value than ever before in one package, giving everyone an opportunity to become a legendary Vault Hunter, and join in the award winning mayhem and fun.”
The GOTY Edition will feature all the content from the Borderlands 2 Season Pass. So thats both the Mechromancher and Physco character classes, all 4 Story expansion packs: Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt and the recently released Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep.
It will also come with the bonus content of character heads and skins found in the Collectors Edition of the game and to finish this amazing GOTY Edition, the Premier Club content of the Creature Slaughter Dome, Gearbox Gun Pack,Golden Key and Vault Hunter’s Relic is included.
It works out as £80 in content for the standard game price of £39.99 which is a bargain for everything Borderlands 2.That is some serious content to bundle with the main game itself and all at a much reduced price for the game. 2K and Gearbox did the same for the first Borderlands GOTY Edition and it seems that this is the most complete version of a Borderlands game edition yet.

2K Games and Gearbox Software have released the sequel of possibly one of the most eccentric games of this generation. Borderlands 2 is available in stores now, and if the first was a surprise hit, the second can only be bigger and better – right? Well, it’s definitely bigger, better as well as a few surprises across the massive open world landscapes that you’ll explore, hunt and dash around. It does admittedly still feel lonely as a single player experience, but the whole setup has been designed for co-op gameplay. It has to be a shared experience to enjoy everything this game has to offer on the planet of Pandora. Continue reading Borderlands 2 Review→
