New trailer unveiled for Cyanide’s Call of Cthulhu

Psychological Horror game Call of Cthulhu was announced early in 2016 and developed by seasoned professionals Cyanide. A brand new trailer entitled the Depths of Madness has been released letting us know exactly what we’re in for in this immersive RPG adventure.

Protagonist Edward Pearce is a private detective investigating the death of an artist and her family on Blackwater Island. Cyanide have said that you embark on a mission to find the truth behind the death of the acclaimed artist and her family, the player will soon uncover a more disturbing truth as the Great Dreamer, Cthulhu, prepares its awakening. CEO of Cyanide gave the following comment

We are happy that Focus entrusted us with the development of a videogame adaptation of the legendary RPG Call of Cthulhu. As long-time fans of the license, working with longtime partner publisher Focus Home Interactive on such an original and exciting project is, once again, a privilege. We hope to offer fans the game they’ve long been waiting for.

It certainly sounds like the H.P. Lovecraft story is shaping up to be one hell of a twisted adventure that I’m certainly looking forward to.

E3 rises to the Call of Cthulhu

Call of Cthulhu

It’s been a few weeks since Focus Home Interactive announced that they would be publishing Cyanide Studios’ dark, Lovecraftian title, Call of Cthulhu.

That announcement was accompanied by a couple of images and some scant information. With the rapidly approaching E3, Focus have released an atmospheric trailer for this new moody title.

Being the official adaptation of Chaosium’s pen and paper RPG, Call of Cthulhu rises from the depths to offer a psychological horror with investigation and stealth mechanics.

Control Edward Pierce, a former veteran and private investigator in 1920s Boston. Pierce will be investigating the tragic and mysterious death of Sarah Hawkins and her family in Darkwater Island. The game’s E3 trailer, below, showcases this disturbing Island and the eerie Hawkins family mansion. It will give a glimpse at how the intensity of the investigation will slowly start chipping away at your sanity.

The Cthulhu mythos has long been associated with insanity and your investigation will bring you closer to Cthulhu’s sphere of influence. The closer you get, the more that madness will progressively engulf your senses, leaving you to increasingly question what is real and what is illusion. Madness is the only way to bring you the truth and you’ll have to balance your sanity against your determination to discover that truth.

One thing is for sure, with the H.P.Lovecraft universe being one of the largest ever envisioned, there are countless possibilities for Call of Cthulhu. Will you be answering the call?

Call of Cthulhu will be releasing on Xbox One in 2017.

Xbox One to receive the Call of Cthulhu

After switching developer from Frogwares to Cyanide Studio back in late January this year, the first two teaser screenshots have crept in for Focus Home Interactive’s Lovecraft-inspired Call of Cthulhu.

The title is an investigation style horror with stealth and RPG elements, based on H.P. Lovecraft’s horror universe, and is adapted from Chaosium’s pen and paper RPG of the same name. The game will also feature psychological horror mechanics as you investigate the death of an acclaimed artist and her family on a backwater island. You’ll uncover a more disturbing truth as The Great Dreamer, Cthulhu, prepares its awakening.

You’ll have to content yourselves with the teaser images above and below for now though, as Call of Cthulhu is not due to hit Xbox One until 2017. Of course, we’ll bring you all the news on this as it comes in.
