It’s the map we always wanted to see return – and now it’s a reality thanks to Infinity Ward with the final Map Pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts (Nemesis DLC)
A reimagined version of the fan-favorite Shipment from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Showtime takes players to a futuristic death arena. Try your luck with the Slot Machine Field Order for one of three random rewards. Take a peek at all the visual improvements to one of the best quick kill maps ever created, before Nuketown – there was Shipment. Video Commentated by Ryan Wyatt (@Fwiz).
Showtime is included with the Nemesis DLC Pack, which arrives first on Xbox LIVE on August 5th. Release on other platforms to follow.
Activision and Infinity Ward has today revealed that the third DLC Pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts will be launching on June 3rd for Xbox One and Xbox 360. Titled, Invasion, the latest DLC delivers four new multiplayer maps from unique locales around the world, each with hidden secrets and unique Field Orders. Invasion also includes Episode 3: Awakening, the next chapter in Extinction’s four-part episodic narrative taking players deep into an alien underworld to discover the truth behind the Cryptid attack.
Invasion’s four new small-to-medium-sized multiplayer maps feature the fast-paced gameplay Call of Duty fans crave, each one donning a distinct look, feel and unique killstreak. “Departed” is a medium-sized map set in a rural Mexican town during the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. The colorfully decorated streets, vendor carts and storefronts provide ample cover for run-and-gunners, and players that complete the map’s unique Field Order will unlock the Death Mariachi killstreak. Armed with dual-wielding pistols, the Death Mariachi settles scores, with each kill turning enemy players into another member of the band, and a temporary squad mate.
“Pharaoh” is the abandoned archeological site of an ancient Egyptian palace. Players will have to be on the lookout for collapsing monuments and urns full of flesh-eating scarabs, among other surprises in this multi-level map. Inside the palace, gamers will battle through multiple chambers ideal for close-quarters combat and short-range weapons, all under the watchful eye of Anubis, the half-jackal/half-human, protector of the dead, who will handsomely reward players who unlock this map’s Field Order.
Invasion’s third map, “Mutiny,” transports players to a remote Caribbean island harboring an eerie pirate hideout complete with abandoned trading posts and prison cells. Speed and stealth are a must as players navigate the narrow and intertwining pathways. However, let ye be warned that gamers taking up positions on the pirate ship moored in the center of the map will become vulnerable to enemy fire from the numerous flanking routes created by the map’s horseshoe shaped dock. Players that unlock “Mutiny’s” Field Order will find themselves escorted by two ethereal ghost pirates, who will happily send enemy combatants down to Davey Jones’ locker on their behalf.
Invasion’s fourth multiplayer map is a refreshed version of the fan-favorite map from Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2, “Favela.” Since its original release, the Brazilian shantytown has seen substantial change. Buildings once under construction are now complete, while others have crumbled into a state of disrepair. Players must avoid falling to their death as they traverse the map from one building to the next, with ramshackle scaffolding creating varied pathways between structures, and enemy snipers taking advantage of the long sightlines. Players who complete the Field Order in “Favela” will be able to call in heavy air support from a nearby Y-8 Gunship to bring the rain with a 105mm cannon, a 40mm auto-cannon and a 25mm cannon.
Invasion is available a la carte for a suggested retail price of $14.99, or as part of the Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC Season Pass.
The final DLC pack, Nemesis will be announced in due course!
Devastation, the latest DLC Pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts is available now on Xbox Live for both Xbox One and Xbox 360. Adding a host of new content, Devastation features four new, small-to-medium multiplayer maps, the all-new tactical 2-in-1 “Ripper” SMG/Assault Rifle, and “Episode 2: Mayday” – the second instalment in Call of Duty: Ghosts’ episodic Extinction story.
Set in a multi-level Mayan temple, “Ruins” provides the verticality needed for long-range weapons, while the underground pathways below are perfect for close-quarters showdowns. Skilled players that find and complete the map’s unique Field Order will have the ability to become one of Hollywood’s most formidable action film stars and the galaxy’s ultimate hunter, the deadly Predator. As the Predator, players will brandish its dual wrist blades and shoulder-mounted plasma cannon, as well as be able to utilise the creature’s keen hunting abilities to track down enemy players.
“Collision” takes place in the mangled remains of a cargo ship that’s crashed into a New York City bridge. The map’s tight corridors – made-up of burnt-out vehicles and demolished shipping containers – create a space perfect for run-and-gun players. Players that dominate “Collision” and complete the map’s specific Field Order will be able take control of a heavily armed aircraft and rain down destruction from above.
“Behemoth” drops players atop a massive excavation platform in South America. The map’s long sight lines are ideal for long-range weapons, while the confined interiors of the platform’s control rooms make for intense SMG and Shotgun encounters. Completing “Behemoth’s” Field Order will allow players to control an attack helicopter armed with a deadly, armour-piercing mini-gun as it circles the excavator searching for enemy combatants.
“Unearthed” is a reimagined version of the fan-favourite map “Dome” from Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3. “Unearthed” is full of new secrets and Cryptid artifacts for players to discover in this compact, versatile map, great for all play types. Unlock the map’s Field Order and unleash the power of the Cryptids, with three “Seeder” aliens chasing down and inflicting heavy damage on enemy combatants.
Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation also brings fans “Episode 2: Mayday” – the next chapter in the ongoing episodic Extinction story. In the aftermath of the events at the Nightfall Program facility in the Alaskan wilderness, the Quick Reaction Force boards a mysteriously abandoned Chinese research vessel adrift in the South Pacific Ocean. Armed with multiple, mod-able versions of the Venom-X weapons that harness the power of Cryptid technology, players will pursue Captain Archer in an attempt to uncover what’s become of Dr. Cross, all while battling against a new Cryptid enemy called the “Seeder”, and culminating with players facing-off against a massive, 400-foot tall Cryptid beast from the deep – the “Kraken.”
Devastation also arms players with the tactical 2-in-1 “Ripper,” a new hybrid SMG/Assault Rifle, and a formidable addition to Ghosts’ weapons cache. The “Ripper” is the perfect complement to Devastation’s new multiplayer maps, providing players two different configurations – medium to short-range capability as an SMG, and medium to long-range as an Assault Rifle. The “Ripper” is a one-of-a-kind weapon in Call of Duty, having the unique ability to convert from SMG to Assault Rifle and back again on-the-fly in the midst of battle, giving players unprecedented flexibility to adjust to a variety of map types and tactics.

Devastation is set to deliver four new small to medium-sized multiplayer maps that include a mountaintop Mayan temple, a mangled container ship, a giant excavation digger in South America and a fully reimagined version of Infinity Ward’s fan-favourite map “Dome” from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – each with their own unique Field Order. There’s also the all-new “Ripper” tactical 2-in-1 weapon and “Episode 2: Mayday” – the gripping second chapter in Extinction’s four-part episodic narrative which includes multiple mod-able versions of the Venom-X weapon and closes with a battle against a monstrous, 100-foot tall Cryptid alien boss, aptly named the Kraken.

Devastation delivers four distinctive new maps with the fast-paced gameplay Call of Duty fans love, each with their own surprises. The first map, “Ruins,” is located on a Mexican peninsula and set amidst the remnants of a mountaintop Mayan temple, with multiple levels providing verticality for longer-range weapons and underground pathways perfect for close-quarters encounters. Savvy players that find and complete the unique Field Order will be able to trigger the map’s volcano to erupt and enjoy watching enemy players attempt to take cover as fiery debris fall from the sky.
The map “Collision,” is a mangle of debris scattered atop a container ship pinned underneath a crippled bridge in New York. This small map is ideal for run-and-gun tactics. Players that dominate “Collision” and complete the map’s specific Field Order will be able take control of a heavily armed aircraft and rain down destruction from above.
“Behemoth” takes the battle aboard a massive excavation platform in South America. Long sight lines open this map up to longer-range weapons, while the compact interiors of the control rooms are ideal for SMG’s and Shotguns. Completing “Behemoth’s” Field Order will allow players to control an attack helicopter armed with a deadly, armor-piercing Rail Gun as it circles the excavator searching for enemy combatants.
Devastation’s fourth map, “Unearthed,” drops players into a reimagined version of “Dome,” the fan-favourite multiplayer map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. With a new look and all-new secrets, “Unearthed” is a compact map for all player types, who must navigate an alien artefact dig site in order to unlock the map’s Field Order and unleash the power of the Cryptids, as well as locate the map’s secret alien weapon.
Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation also arms players with the “Ripper” – a new, tactical 2-in-1 SMG/Assault Rifle that can be used in all of Ghosts’ multiplayer maps. The “Ripper” is a highly unique weapon because of its ability to quickly switch back and forth from SMG to Assault Rifle on the fly. A deadly addition to Ghosts’ arsenal, the “Ripper” is the ideal companion across a variety of map types and tactics, providing players unprecedented flexibility with medium to short-range capability as an SMG and medium to long-range as an Assault Rifle.
For Extinction fans, “Episode 2: Mayday,” highlights the Call of Duty: Ghosts Devastation DLC Pack. Following the dramatic events that took place deep within the Alaskan wilderness at the Nightfall Program research facility, the Quick Reaction Force team now heads onboard a mysterious Chinese research vessel drifting abandoned in the Tasman Sea in the South Pacific Ocean. Players will uncover a much deeper conspiracy as they pursue Captain Archer and discover what has become of Doctor Cross. Armed with multiple mod-able versions of the Venom-X weapon powered with Cryptid technology, players will come up against yet another new alien species referred to as the “Seeder,” as well as go head-to-head with a massive, 100-foot tall Cryptid enemy from the depths of the ocean…the “Kraken.”
Not yet bought Call of Duty: Ghosts because you’ve heard so much about the awful campaign that Infinity Ward has thrown together? Well, maybe you’ll be tempted by the Multiplayer offering as both Activision and Infinity Ward will chuck out a free multiplayer weekend for Call of Duty: Ghosts this weekend on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. A complete first for the franchise on Xbox Live, despite similar demo’s on Steam.
Ghosts’ free multiplayer weekend will be available from Friday March 7th 2014 until Monday March 10th 2014. The demo will include three multiplayer maps, Strikezone, Warhawk and Prison Break with available multiplayer modes: Search and Rescue, Domination and Team Deathmatch. You’ll also be able to trial the Infinity Ward copy-cat-zombies cooperative Extinction mode on Point of Contact.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is a great game, it is the best looking Multiplayer first person shooter on Xbox LIVE and currently the most played and purchased Xbox One title at the time of writing. The campaign is average and lacks the epic momentum and spectacular conclusions to the sub plots within the main story. It’s like going through the motions without the emotion, it’s Call of Duty, you know it’s Call of Duty – but you’re wondering around from one mission to the next thinking when is the big shocker about to come! Multiplayer though as always is a top designed affair and exactly the online Call of Duty experience you’d want delivered on a next-gen console.
Bored of Ghosts yet? No, didn’t think so. Anyway heres some news from Activision which is sure to bring a smile to your face. The first ever map pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts is available to buy now from both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One Marketplace, titled Onslaught, the DLC offering serves up four new Multiplayer Maps, an entirely new Extinction playground to get you all alienated – and topped off nicely with a brand new Maverick Assault Rifle/Sniper dual purpose weapon! Although available on the Marketplace for just under £12.00, Onslaught is included as part of the Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC Season Pass, which will allow for a combined saving if you plan to get all four epic Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC Packs planned for release this year – Onslaught, Devastation, Invasion and Nemesis. Release dates for the other three packs has not yet been announced, but let’s get stuck into Onslaught which was provided to thisisxbox from Activision for the Xbox One console. Additionally for a quick look around the new maps press play on some of the video’s below where I briefly walk around solo to give you an insight into how they look in-game.
Starting with Ignition, this is the return of the old Modern Warfare 2 map by the name of Scrapyard. What was once a small aircraft boneyard scattered with parts from Modern Warfare 2 is now a high-tech looking (albeit derelict) rocket launch facility in Call of Duty: Ghosts. It was a really great map when it was first available on the Xbox 360 providing cover under wreckages of planes, and now in next-gen glory comes not only a modern looking re-skin, but a few neat features that will see a rocket launch and explode in mid-air! The debris will fall back down to earth and kill anyone in its way; also hidden within the map is an engine ignition button that will kill players near the engine once activated. Although this map started life within Call of Duty as Scrapyard, even as Ignition it has been reborn in a beautiful way that will have you enjoy its design and close quarter’s environment all over again. With the addition of underground tunnels now, it feels and plays like a completely new map in its own right.
Fog is next on the agenda, and what both resembles and feels like an environment cut right out of a creepy Black Ops Zombies map, you’ll be creeping around dark woods with eerie cabins as the fog in the environment engulfs you around twisting paths, still lakes and flank routes. It’s a medium sized map offering secret routes through locating hidden parts that can be breached. The environment looks like that of a horror movie and additionally features a special Field Order reward called Michael Myers where you can actually become Michael Myers within the map and then the theme-tune from the Halloween movies is played out! (Seriously how cool is that!) This map is perfect for Deathmatch modes and Kill Confirmed, but with all the different routes it is far too easy to get lost in its haunting atmosphere as you find yourself moving around from one cabin to the next on tender hooks.
BayView is a marina board-walk with its own moving tram that circulates the area of the map. The map itself is rather small and square, but there are a lot of buildings that provide vantage points as each looks onto the streets below; walking alone down the streets of BayView is almost guaranteed death as any enemy can hunt you out from afar with a decent sniper rifle. I didn’t enjoy this map at all because it just seems rather unfair for those who like to run-and-gun with the map environment giving advantages to players who like to hide in corners! As far as game modes are concerned, pretty much all of them is suited to this map due to its size – think of this as the Ghosts equivalent of Nuketown from both Black Ops and you’ll get the point very quickly. As the most annoying map of the Onslaught DLC, I tend to not vote for it in the lobby because the sitting in corners notion of Call of Duty multiplayer is tiring now, soldiers have legs – move them!
Finally on the Multiplayer Map front comes, Containment – a medium sized map with the environment of a demolished town in Mexico. Power cables are hanging down, buildings are burning and there seems to be a very suspicious looking nuclear sign on the mini-map directing players to a truck with a nuclear missile on a bridge. Any player near this notice a scambled image on the mini-map, but complete a field order and you can call in a strike to wipe out the entire vehicle, bridge and players around the area! The map is more like a maze with a few secret hide-out spots especially around the church which stands tall in the town, look out for a few doors you can breach. With a mass amount of external ground to cover and equal portions if internal secure spots, this map plays like a dream and is one of the best of the Onslaught DLC that covers all game modes. Since Xbox One’s UPLOAD Studio constantly fails to render any Containment Map walk around on the Xbox One used for gameplay – check out the OutsideXbox video instead shown above.
For players who like Extinction, are there any of you out there? For me, this has grown to become the pain-in-the-arse of Call of Duty: Ghosts, I miss Spec Ops Survival so damn much and I was never a fan of Zombies in the Black Ops series – so Extinction feels a little like it’s trying to become Zombies and it just doesn’t offer the same magic or thrills. For those out there who do like a bit of 4 player co-operative action killing anything un-human, then Nightfall will be sure to add to your addiction. It’s part one of four and you’ll need to master your skills, make the best use of your cash and equipment whilst working your way to assault the Nightfall research facility locating survivors as you eradicate the Cryptid outbreak. Those pesky creatures annoy me so much that this feels more like a Gears of War game mode that doesn’t belong on Call of Duty…kill it off!
Onslaught is a great addition to extend Call of Duty: Ghosts even further and brings some fantastic Multiplayer Maps to the game, even if they do seem a bit on the small side. Visually its undeniable that despite some great lighting effects, Ghosts just doesn’t portray itself as true next-gen quality offering barely little difference in quality from the Xbox 360 version of the game. Although the Map Pack was downloaded and played on the Xbox One, the maps are the same on both consoles for all players in terms of their design features.
To celebrate the upcoming release of the Onslaught DLC Map Pack for Call of Duty Ghosts which is due to drop on January 28th, Activision and Infinity Ward have announced a Double XP Weekend starting tonight until Monday 27th.
Onslaught is the first downloadable content pack available for Call of Duty: Ghosts. Take the fight onto four small to medium Multiplayer maps: Fog, Bayview, Containment, and Ignition, a reimagining of the classic map Scrapyard from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Players also gain access to the Maverick, an all-new dual purpose Assault Rifle & Sniper Rifle.
The Extinction storyline continues with Episode 1: Nightfall, the first installment in a four-part episodic narrative. Explore a remote facility in the Alaskan wilderness and learn more about the origins of the alien threat. Episode 1: Nightfall features two all-new species of aliens and an exclusive weapon.
