Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Induction Gameplay

E3 2014 opened with a positive start and an amazing new chapter from Sledgehammer Game’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, set for release later this year. The induction level looks very high tech and an even more modernised version of Modern Warfare 3!

Watch gameplay from the “Induction” campaign level, which follows a group of US Marines as they drop into the battle lines of Seoul, South Korea.

Power Changes Everything when the game is released on November 4th, 2014.

Xbox E3 2014 Brief – Key Announcements

The Xbox E3 Media briefing kicked off at 5.30pm (after a pre-show) today with some of the most top titles and new announcements. If you watched the LIVE streams as it happened across many different devices and website’s – you too might have almost wet yourself with excitement!

The show opened with Phil Spencer on a smaller stage this year, with the purpose of showcasing the passion and creativity of gaming across the world to millions of viewers live from LA. Creators, publishers and gamers were thanked, “humbled and amazed” said Spencer when talking about how Xbox One gamers are shaping the future of Xbox, “we are better for it” – The entire briefing was dedicated to games to make Xbox One the best place to play games this generation.

call of duty advanced warfare

The first look at Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was displayed, showing a war torn futuristic environment and truly spectacular visuals. The game is under development from Sledgehammer Games and will be released November 4th 2014. All DLC will reach Xbox gamers first (confirmed). First impressions seemed very positive and this could be the Call of Duty we’ve been waiting for, for a long time – something on the scale of the original Modern Warfare. Imaginative, action-packed and intense. Noticeably drones appear like Kryl in the Gears of War franchise, swarming in large dangerous bursts of evil.

Turn 10 came on stage to state that almost a million gamers a week are gaming on Forza games. Confirmation that Nürburgring track was to be made available today for FREE on Forza 5. It is a motorsports complex around the village of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany (google it for more info). The most important Top 10 Studio’s premiere was Horizon 2 with a full day & night cycle and dynamic weather in stunning 1080p. Drivatar has been evolved for the open world and dedicated servers will allow you to play instantly from September 30th 2014. Over 200 cars and open world freedom – Forza Horizon 2 looks every bit as amazing as you can imagine!

Trapper, Medic or Support… EVOLVE announced a Beta and DLC exclusive to Xbox On. Quite dramatically too that made the game look almost like Aliens, from the creators of left 4 Dead.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity was the first time you can join your own brotherhood with up to three friends on Xbox LIVE to define the Assassin’s Creed experience for next-gen gaming. Marquis De Bullion was the major character in stealth mode as he crept around various exquisite architecture. The game looks to be the most brutal and dramatic in the history of the franchise; better lighting, improved AI seemed prominent and 4 player split screen sword fights!

Dragon Age Inquisition, with premiere content first on Xbox from October 7th 2014. The brief trailer showed the lighting effects and dramatic sequences of terror that prevails through-out the RPG. Looked quite something, but with just a minute or just over of scenes – it was a little hard to take in all the epicness at once. Looks to be one of the greatest RPG’s on Xbox One I reckon.

Ted Price from Insomniac Games came on stage to present the insane actions of Sunset Overdrive; to take control of an open world with the intention of saving Sunset City. It’s eccentric take on action and fighting through theme parks didn’t make this look the greatest game of the show tonight, due to appearing a little like the odd one out. It is definitely something different, something completely off the wall, but I wasn’t over impressed on the first impressions I had of the gameplay on show. Quirky and colourful, but maybe it’s campaign or 8 player multiplayer experience for looting will win me over on October 28th this year.

All new DLC for Dead Rising 3 is live as of now… it’s name is so long, you’re better off just looking on the marketplace for it. Turns the game into a Street Fighting experience on Xbox LIVE.

Disney Fantasia Music Evolved will be released this October from Harmonix. Dance Central Spotlight, with all new digital tracks smart technology to get new tracks into the game every week – the game will be released digitally on the marketplace this Fall.

Lionhead confirmed that Fable Legends is a place of magic, fairytale and myth to discover the stories and characters of Albion. Soon to be your home in the game; we was introduced to Stirling, a main character who along with Winter, Rook, and Inga (various heroes) you embark upon a whole new quest in a growing, evolving world. The natural world is ready to strike back which must be defeated, all things in Fable Legends appeared to have a serious attitude problem. Lionhead’s vision is to extend beyond multiplayer with an innovative, dramatic mode – in Fable Legends you can be the villain player to control the world from above like a malevolent God. Every challenge is orchestrated by the villain – it’s your job to do the worst with your evil powers. The outcome of adventures depends on the cunning villain or the teamwork of the heroes!

343i came on stage to discuss Halo – Whilst Halo 5 is about Master Chief’s journey; his history and past – the game was confirmed for a 2015 released. In the build up, 343i are retelling the launch of Halo history with November 11th confirmed as the start as Master chief returns in Halo Master Chief collection having all 4 main games included on one disc with a single unified user interface. Halo 2 Anniversary HD will ship with the games original multiplayer and will run at 1080p 60fps on dedicated servers with 4000 Gamerscore across the whole disc. Included in the collection is Halo Nightfall, a live action series from Ridley Scott that will lead right up to Halo 5: Guardians. Last but not least, this december will launch a Halo 5: Guardians Beta to celebrate the Arena legacy with new game modes and features that can only be obtained in the collection disc. The entire Master chief story will be available on Xbox One this holiday and have been re-touched for Xbox One.

Phil Spencer also briefly showed for the 2015 line-up: INSIDE ( a new title from Playdead ) it looked very much like Limbo, but next-gen! Dark and chilling with various ways to escape danger. ID@Xbox came on stage to talk more about the indie scene on Xbox One with a look a fraction of hundreds of new games on the way. Showing just brief clips, it was hard to pick out a favourite…

Rise of the Tomb Raider – Lara Croft is all set to return to Xbox One in a whole new and great outing that looks every bit as deep psychologically as it is going underground to find lost treasure. Not a great deal was shown, but the brief teaser was enough to wet my pants and appetite. One of the best games of the xbox 360 of all time (in the eyes of thisisxbox) my excitement for the next game in the franchise is nothing short of off the scale!

The Witcher 3 was played on stage from Projekt Red and looked like a brighter, more graphically enhanced and vivid Witcher 2. It wasn’t all that exciting or thrilling and appeared like something we already played before. As I hold the Witcher 2 as my all time favourite RPG to date, I still have very high hopes for this release next year.

Phantom Dust has been brought back from the dead and will be released only on Xbox One. For those who remember the original, the latest adventure appeared to be a battle of power on screen. The original was a 3rd person card based fantasy title that brought the action to life vividly in on-screen battles.

Game Director, Ryan Barnard presented more information on Tom Clancy’s The Division – showing further gameplay and areas overrun by hostile factions. New content will be released first on Xbox One. The Division is an upcoming third-person tactical shooter action role-playing video game developed by a handful of Ubisoft studio’s and will be released during 2015. A definite appeal for Ghost Recon fans as The Division appeared like a modernised futuristic version.

Platinum Games announced their Xbox One exclusive creation ScaleBound – filled with dragons and action, it all seemed very exciting.

David Jones and Phil Spencer came on stage towards the end of the show to announce the return of one of the Xbox 360’s finest games – Crackdown! The new Xbox One exclusive Crackdown wasn’t dated, but its over-long illustrious trailer showed it to be coming back as one hell of a title just as great as the original.

…and then it ended!

Happy viewing… looks just like Karnak Temple in Luxor!

Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion DLC Dated June 3

Activision and Infinity Ward has today revealed that the third DLC Pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts will be launching on June 3rd for Xbox One and Xbox 360. Titled, Invasion, the latest DLC delivers four new multiplayer maps from unique locales around the world, each with hidden secrets and unique Field Orders. Invasion also includes Episode 3: Awakening, the next chapter in Extinction’s four-part episodic narrative taking players deep into an alien underworld to discover the truth behind the Cryptid attack.

Invasion’s four new small-to-medium-sized multiplayer maps feature the fast-paced gameplay Call of Duty fans crave, each one donning a distinct look, feel and unique killstreak. “Departed” is a medium-sized map set in a rural Mexican town during the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. The colorfully decorated streets, vendor carts and storefronts provide ample cover for run-and-gunners, and players that complete the map’s unique Field Order will unlock the Death Mariachi killstreak. Armed with dual-wielding pistols, the Death Mariachi settles scores, with each kill turning enemy players into another member of the band, and a temporary squad mate.

“Pharaoh” is the abandoned archeological site of an ancient Egyptian palace. Players will have to be on the lookout for collapsing monuments and urns full of flesh-eating scarabs, among other surprises in this multi-level map. Inside the palace, gamers will battle through multiple chambers ideal for close-quarters combat and short-range weapons, all under the watchful eye of Anubis, the half-jackal/half-human, protector of the dead, who will handsomely reward players who unlock this map’s Field Order.

Invasion’s third map, “Mutiny,” transports players to a remote Caribbean island harboring an eerie pirate hideout complete with abandoned trading posts and prison cells. Speed and stealth are a must as players navigate the narrow and intertwining pathways. However, let ye be warned that gamers taking up positions on the pirate ship moored in the center of the map will become vulnerable to enemy fire from the numerous flanking routes created by the map’s horseshoe shaped dock. Players that unlock “Mutiny’s” Field Order will find themselves escorted by two ethereal ghost pirates, who will happily send enemy combatants down to Davey Jones’ locker on their behalf.

Invasion’s fourth multiplayer map is a refreshed version of the fan-favorite map from Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2, “Favela.” Since its original release, the Brazilian shantytown has seen substantial change. Buildings once under construction are now complete, while others have crumbled into a state of disrepair. Players must avoid falling to their death as they traverse the map from one building to the next, with ramshackle scaffolding creating varied pathways between structures, and enemy snipers taking advantage of the long sightlines. Players who complete the Field Order in “Favela” will be able to call in heavy air support from a nearby Y-8 Gunship to bring the rain with a 105mm cannon, a 40mm auto-cannon and a 25mm cannon.

Invasion is available a la carte for a suggested retail price of $14.99, or as part of the Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC Season Pass.

The final DLC pack, Nemesis will be announced in due course!

3D Printer Rifle Weapon for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

What do you get when you combine a state of the art 3D printer with an Assault Rifle? The next weapon to feature in the latest Call of Duty title set for release on November 4th 2014 – Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

As part of GameInformer’s exceptional coverage of the Advanced Warfare from Sledgehammer Games, it has been revealed that one of the futuristic weapons in the year 2054 timeframe (I’d be 74 by then) is a rifle that can print its own ammunition within the weapons chamber!

Other technology revealed includes a plasma rifle, a hoverbike, vertical takeoff aircraft, and an exo suit that will increase player speed, strength and jump height on the battlefield.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Tons of New Information Revealed

call of duty advanced warfare

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare could be the kick up the arse for the franchise it needs from new blood Sledgehammer Games. The past two titles from both Infinity Ward and Treyarch failed to meet the expectations despite strong sales with Black Ops 2 and Ghosts, but this years Advanced Warfare does appear promising based on more information revealed in the June edition of GameInformer.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare details in a bulleted list reveal the Pitbull, and one main protagonist for the first time in the history of Call of Duty!

  • In development at Sledgehammer Games for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. A separate studio to be named later is working on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. There’s no word on Wii U.
  • The game runs on a new and unspecified game engine.
  • The story opens with a catastrophic event that Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey describes as “like a global 9/11.” There’s little more to go on, but major cities on multiple continents are affected by some kind of terrorism perpetrated by a terrorist organization called KVA.
  • It is set in 2054.
  • You play a character named Private Mitchell, who is voiced by prolific voice actor Troy Baker. You may know Baker for his recent roles in The Last of Us (Joel), BioShock Infinite (Booker), and Batman: Arkham Origins (The Joker). Mitchell only speaks during cutscenes; never during gameplay.
  • Mitchell starts Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare as a Marine, who is squadmates with Will Irons, the son of Private Military Company Atlas Corporation CEO Jonathan Irons (played by Kevin Spacey). After their tour of duty is done, the elder Irons asks Mitchell if he wants to leave the Marines to join his father’s company. Mitchell says yes and is outfitted with an “EXO” suit for his new job.
  • Unlike past Call of Duty games, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has only one protagonist.
  • Kevin Spacey says he was “very excited” about joining the game when he was originally approached.
  • You’ll earn points every mission that can be used to upgrade your EXO suit. Using the EXO suit, you can climb walls with magnetic gloves, boost-dodge toward cover, perform super-jumps that let you get to higher ground, use optic camouflage for cloaking, and hover in mid-air.
  • Your arsenal includes “variable grenades,” which can be switched from concussion to threat detection while they cook. The threat detection grenade reveals enemy locations and makes this information available via an augmented reality system visible in your visor.
  • Some of your guns are energy-based, and do not use traditional ammunition.
  • There is a rideable vehicle called a Pitbull, which is based on the real world Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle.
  • There’s no official word on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare multiplayer yet, but Condrey teases, “You can probably imagine the possibilities of a lot of the stuff you saw in single-player and how it would apply online.” Activision also says it is “absolutely committed” to supporting eSports.
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will have some kind of co-op mode.
  • Veteran Metal Gear Solid composer Harry Gregson-Williams is working on the game’s soundtrack. Audio director Don Veca says, “I think Advanced Warfare is going to be the best-sounding and certainly the best-mixed game ever.”
  • In an effort to create a believable world, Activision consulted with “experts from production design in movies to experts in the military to scientists and futurists,” according to Sledgehammer cofounder Glen Schofield.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launches November 4th 2014. We are expecting to hear of a multiplayer reveal event soon or during E3 2014.

Infinity Ward and NeverSoft To Merge Studio’s

Whilst the news is hotting up over this years Call of Duty instalment – Advanced Warfare, there has been a major change to affect Call of Duty: Ghosts developers Infinity Ward and NeverSoft who joined forces to create Ghosts. It has been discovered that Activision are merging the two studios into one solid Infinity Ward, and the NeverSoft name will not be incorporated in anyway despite Infinity Never having quite a nice ring to it! It’s not happening, nor is Infinity Soft!

Here’s some snippets of an Activision Internal Memo as acquired by GiantBomb:

“As you know, Neversoft and Infinity Ward teamed up for the development of Call of Duty: Ghosts,” wrote Hirshberg. “And through that process, it became clear that the two studios have very complementary skill sets. Between these two excellent studios, it seemed like a single ‘super-studio’ could emerge.”

Relating to NeverSoft:

“The impact of their 20-year run of hard work and success cannot be overstated,” said Hirshberg. “As already mentioned, we are merging these two very talented teams and obviously had to choose a name for the combined studio. Since the Infinity Ward brand is indelibly tied to the Call of Duty franchise, it is the sensible choice. While it will be strange to not see the Neversoft logo on future games, the important things–which are the Neversoft team’s talent, creativity, professionalism and commitment to creative excellence–all remain unchanged as part of this new chapter.”

Dave Stohl, currently the executive VP of worldwide studios for Activision, has been assigned to lead this new studio whilst The current studio head, Steve Ackrich, will take on another leadership role. However, over at NeverSoft, both studio head Joel Jewett and studio director Scott Pease, will retire later this year having been part of the studio for twenty years!

There was no word about how the merger would affect the development of their next Call of Duty and it’s official title.
