Call of Duty: WWII leaked images

Yesterday a Reddit user posted several images supposedly from the next, yet to be announced, Call of Duty title. These images reveal the name of Activision’s new CoD, Call of Duty: WWII, as well revealing the setting as indeed World War II.

[Leak] Call of Duty: WWII – /r/WWII – TheFamilyVideoGamers

We’re not entirely convinced of the legitimacy of these images just yet. The poster claims to be the one behind similar leaks last year which were later proved true, but the live action shots and simplistic name seems a bit off. One of the images in particular looks straight out of Saving Private Ryan. However, historically, leaks for the new CoD do rear their head around this time each year, and inevitably Activision will reveal the truth at E3, so not too long to wait for official confirmation. In the mean time, takes these images with a grain of salt and we’ll be sure to update you if their legitimacy changes.

Is the next Call of Duty set in space?

It’s still early in the year but already we’re all hungry for news on what games are coming out in 2016. Activision will certainly have a new Call of Duty title to show us all come E3, and this year it’s Infinity Ward’s turn at the helm, so what are we all in for this year?

Space! We think it’s going to be space.

After toying with us with that one quick mission in space in Modern Warfare 2 as well as the first level of Advanced Warfare, people have been crying out for a space setting, and this year just might just be the one where we finally see it.

Infinity Ward’s Twitter account posted the following New Year image at the beginning of the year:

Infinity Ward new year Tweet

An odd choice of image unless space was a theme in their next project. Meanwhile, rumours of Call of Duty: Space Warfare have been circulating since 2010. In fact Activision filed the trademark application with the United States Patent & Trademark Office for Call of Duty: Space Warfare in May 2010 according to Gamespot. The trademark was since abandoned in 2011 but Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Future Warfare are still active.

Of course, back in July last year, Black Ops 3’s multiplayer director Dan Bunting told GamesRadar in an interview that space as a setting was highly unlikely.

There’s an element of Call Of Duty as a brand that’s very gritty, it needs to feel believable. Even if it’s not real it needs to feel like it could be,

Dan told GamesRadar,

I don’t think we’re ever going to reach a point where we just completely ignore finding authenticity to try and ground the world and make it feel believable.

But that image from Infinity Ward’s Twitter still has us convinced that space is indeed the next frontier for Call of Duty. Time will tell, but until we have confirmation of the new CoD, tell us what setting you’d like to see the series tackle in the comments below.

Advanced Warfare patch released: 15 new prestiges & more weapon balancing

call of duty advanced warfare

A brand spankin’ new patch is currently being deployed to Advanced Warfare and it contains plenty of changes and additions.

The new update contains 15 (yes, fifteen) new prestiges, as the current 15 just isn’t enough for some players, as well as adding a grand master prestige rank if you manage to grind through all 30 of them.  So, that’ll keep people busy for another few months at least.

That’s not all, Sledgehammer Games have been hard at work making slight adjustments to the current arsenal of weapons in the game to help even out the playing field. The most notable change in this update is the increased movement speed with LMG’s and the slight nerf to the ASM1 SMG’s rate of fire.

Esport fans will also be pleased to hear that the broadcaster mode has also received a notable face lift and it now looks fabulous. Just in time for Call of Duty Championships too!

Advanced Warfare Championship Pack now out, it’s pretty fancy

image-10-copy-620x360

Call of Duty Championship 2015 takes place in just a few months time and to help build a lil’ bit of hype, Sledgehammer Games have just dropped a brand new pack of skins revolving around the tournament and it’s now available on Xbox Live.

For just $3.99, you can get your hands on the premium Championship 2015 bundle which contains a themed exoskeleton, weapon camouflages, calling card, helmet and reticules. Best of all? It’s covered in gold from top to bottom, as you can see above.

I think this is one of the first times in Call of Duty history where the gold gun camo is well, actually gold, unlike past attempts which have been mustard/off yellow colour.

If that isn’t enough, you can also purchase additional create-a-class and armory slots which add tonnes of new room for just $1.99 a piece.

Disappointingly, Activision have yet to detail whether any of the money from these pack will go towards the Championship 2015 prize pool, similar to what plenty of other eSport tournaments have done in the past.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare $1,000,000 Championship Announced

call_of_duty_championship_2015

Activision and Xbox are once again teaming up to bring the Call of Duty Championship to sunny California.

This March, 32 teams from around the world will battle it out to try and take home the title of best Call of Duty team in the world and a significant chunk of that enormous $1 million prize pool.

The 32 teams will be made up from Europe, America, South America, Asia and Australia after an online qualification tournament that will take place in February.

If you’re yet to watch any of Advanced Warfare’s competitive multiplayer, I’d strongly recommend it. It’s one of the most entertaining when it comes to a spectating sport for a long time. MLG’s first competitive CoD season is well under way and OpTic Gaming are currently crushing the competition.

TL;DR: 27-29th March, $1 million, Santa Monica CA, streamed live.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare First Patch In The Works

call of duty advanced warfare

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launched this past week worldwide and developer Sledgehammer Games’ is “listening to the community” and has roughly detailed what the first patch will be fixing.

The vast majority of the changes that have been revealed on its official website revolve around general game polish and have also addressed the err… slightly dodgy connection the game has been experiencing this past week by stating the following:

Advanced Warfare employs game servers hosted at data centers globally on all platforms and listen servers as part of our proprietary matchmaking system. Our goal is to ensure the best possible connection and greatest gameplay experience regardless of location and time of day.”

The patch that is in the works and should be hitting the Xbox One platform soon contains a bunch of bug fixes, such as;

  • Prestige reset issues, including emblems and challenges.
  • Adjustment to the in-game chat names notifications placement.
  • Fix for weapon reloads counting as speed reloads in certain circumstances.
  • Connectivity optimizations.
  • Fix for stats accumulating towards leaderboards after prestiging.
  • Adjustment to challenges to unlock Camos for weapons.
  • Fix for round-based game modes, affecting Win/Loss ratios.
  • Implemented ability to unlock eSports Rule options in Private Match.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Supply Drops Detailed

Sledgehammer Games has finally released more information about the new feature in Advanced Warfare multiplayer, simply known as supply drops.

If you’ve played Counter Strike: Global Offensive or Battlefield 4, you’ll be familiar with this new feature to the Call of Duty franchise. As you play Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, you’ll earn experience and rank up like you traditionally would, unlocking weapons and gear as you progress but you’ll now have a random chance at receiving a supply drop crate while playing or completing challenges.

These supply drops contain over 1,000 pieces of unique gear, split into three categories; weapon loot, character gear and reinforcement. Each of these three categories has a varying level of rarity which are enlisted, professional and elite.

The majority of the gear included in the supply drops is cosmetic however weapon loot can have different stats to the base weapon model, such as having a higher fire rate but a lower overall damage per bullet.

What do you think of supply drops? A neat addition to the Call of Duty franchise? Let us know in the comments below!
