Halo Wars 2 – Blitz Mode, Tactical Combat meets Card Based Strategy.

Check out the latest video to come from 343 Industries and Creative Assembly, as they discuss the multiplayer modes available in the up and coming Halo Wars 2 along with a new style of gameplay called Blitz.

As you can see from the video, Blitz is a mix between real time strategy and a card based game. Players get to create a deck of 12 cards based on their chosen Commander, deploying these cards onto the battlefield in real-time during the match. As like other card based games, every card/unit carries an energy cost, the more powerful the unit the higher the cost to play it. Strategy will play key as in the heat of a battle do you spend your energy points on smaller units to build up your forces or save your energy so you can deploy Wraiths or Warthogs. Only you can make these decisions.

Blitz mode will come in two variations, Firefight and PvP. Firefight will be a PVE mode that can either be played by yourself or with up to two other friends against wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemies. PvP will come in its normal fashion of ranked and unranked matches of 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3.

For more information about the up and coming game modes in Halo Wars 2, check out Xbox Wire, or the Official Website. Halo Wars 2 is due for release on February 21st 2017 on Xbox One and Windows PC.

Alien: Isolation discovers a Safe Haven in new DLC

SafeHaven

Have you ever wanted to find a nice cosy, safe place to hole up and hide?

Alien: Isolation’s new DLC, Safe Haven, will allow you to do just that. So, for £5.59 in the UK, what are you getting for your money?

Well, this newly released DLC includes an all-new Salvage Mode, which tasks you to complete ten challenges within a time limit, all while playing hide and seek with a murderous xenomorph with acid for blood. Sounds easy, right, what’s the catch? You’ve only got one life to do this with and while dying will take you back to your last saved challenge, you final score will suffer, so if you want to be king of that particular castle, you’ll need all of your survival skills.

As with the previous DLC, you’ll get to play with a new character. Hughes, Sevastopol’s Communications Officer, who happens to be one of the first characters you’ve encountered, is your avatar this time. Get faster access to the Bolt Gun, EMP Mine and Shotgun as Hughes, and take your choice from Gemini Systems or the Bacchus Apartments to complete your tasks.

Safe Haven also introduces another new game mode, Marathon. This allows you to play Survivor Mode maps in any order you please.

If your nerves can take it, have a look at the release trailer below, then get on in there and see if you can top that leaderboard.

Alien: Isolation- Safe Haven DLC is out now.

Alien: Isolation new DLC released

Sega have detailed and released the next in the series of DLC available for the terror-inducing Alien: Isolation.

Called Trauma, this features 3 brand new maps for Survivor Mode and a new character, Chief Medical Officer Lingard, to encourage to soil themselves as you get to crawl through the vents of Sevastopol Station.

Hide from, confront or distract a range of enemies in this new content, set in the Medical Bay of the Station, in an effort to save the survivors and destroy any trace of your alien research. Along the way, get faster access to Medikits and all manner of diversionary IEDs.
You might have a little wait on your hands to get hold of this, priced at £5.59 on Xbox One and Xbox 360, however. It’s a whopping 1.7GB on the One, 535MB on 360.

Trauma is also available as part of the Alien: Isolation Season Pass, so you’d be frankly daft if you bought it separately, again, with the Pass being £19.99 for both console formats.

Alien: Isolation spotted on Xbox Live Game Store

Aliens

Trademarks were found for an upcoming Alien game being developed by Creative Assembly back in October, and it seems that the game has now been officially announced as it has found itself being advertised on the Xbox Live Game Store.

The blurb on the Game Store reads, “Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance. As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.“

There are also five screenshots (along with the box art) which can be seen on Xbox.com.

We’re also led to believe that the game was said to feature both single-player, and four-player co-op but the latter has since been removed from the information given about the title.

*Update* – and here’s a trailer, released just a short while ago.
