You’ll get to explore The Dreaming City. which is full of secrets to discover and bosses to defeat, this destination also houses the brand-new raid and is the first space designed from the ground up to support endgame content. There will be plenty of changes and features such as a new weapon slot system, Random Rolls, improvements to the mods system, and numerous other quality-of-life improvements

To find out more about the work that has gone into the game, it’s well worth checking out the reveal video below.

Will this tempt you back into Destiny 2?

Bungie to reveal Destiny 2 year two plans on June 5th

E3 is only a week away and as usual there have been plenty of pre-event leaks – case in point is keyring-gate for Assassins Creed Odyssey, and some developers are releasing their information in planned events ahead of the show.

Bungie are in the latter camp and in a tweet have announced details for their year two plans that will be happening on a livestream event on June 5th. If you’ve delved back in to Destiny 2 recently then don’t miss the event which will be taking place on www.twitch.tv/bungie

Destiny 2 next DLC update called Warmind and will release on May 8th

Hot on the heels of the Destiny 2 1.14 update that dropped on 30th January and made significant improvements to the game, Bungie have now announced that the next update, and story DLC, will release on May 8th and is called Warmind.

There are no firm details yet, but Warmind hints at events in the original game, especially the events surrounding the AI Rasputin. Game Director Christopher Barrett says it “will send you to new places to meet new heroes and battle new enemies. You’ll earn new loot and master new activities”. The official communication will take place on April 24th and Tix will be watching and reporting to keep you all up to date.

Bungie have also updated the roadmap, and it’s below for your viewing pleasure.

Bungie details the future of Destiny 2

It’s fair to say that Bungie have had a rough ride of late, with fan’s criticising both the endgame quality and the first expansion pack “Curse Of Osiris”, especially when they managed to lock some non-expansion pack buyers from the endgame activities. For a long time Bungie were telling the fans that they were listening, but now, according to game director Christopher Barrett, “We’re not just listening, we are doing”.

Following on from the endgame lock-out, Bungie were quick to categorise what the difference is between expansions and seasons, to ensure that base game players would continue to have access to all the base game activities for the games lifespan.

The much criticised Eververse will be changed, with Christopher saying “We recognize that the scales are tipped too far towards Tess at the moment, and Eververse was never intended to be a substitute for end game content and rewards.”

There will also be a major game update on January 30th, with the expansion of the Masterwork system to include armor. The Masterwork Armor provides increased damage reduction while using your Super and you can reroll the armor stat type on Masterwork Armor, and similar to Masterwork weapons, you can upgrade a piece of armor to Masterwork by spending Masterwork Cores and Legendary Shards.

This update will also update Raid rewards to make them more unique and interesting. They will now feature mods with Raid-specific perks, and Bungie are adjusting the rewards to ensure a Raid item drops from each major encounter. The Raid vendor will also directly sell Leviathan and Eater of Worlds armor and weapons for purchase with Raid tokens and Legendary Shards.
They are also adding a new Ghost with Raid-specific perks that has a chance to drop from the Leviathan and Eater of Worlds final encounters.

The February update looks much more substantial with the return of Strike Scoring and a full rework of weapon and armor mods.

Full details of all the changes can be found on the Bungie development update here. Here’s hoping the changes will greatly improve the quality of life of both the game and it’s users.

What is in Your Destiny? More Experience Points!

An eagle-eyed Redditor had spotted that the experience points (XP) earned whilst playing Destiny 2 wasn’t being received correctly, so they did a lot of digging and testing. The thread can be seen here – click moi – but the TLDR is below, plus a nice graph for those Cayde-types.

If you earn XP slow, the ingame display is correct. If you play normally, the game drops some XP (~ 50%). If you power-grind XP the game will drop most of your XP (in testing, I managed to lose ~95% of the XP during an ‘enemies moving against each other’ event

Word from the Vanguard has since come down – report here

“We’ve seen community discussion around XP gain in Destiny. After reviewing our data, we agree that the system is not performing the way we’d like it to. Today, we’d like to describe what’s going on under the hood, and talk about what you can expect going forward when it comes to earning XP in Destiny 2.

Currently, XP will scale up when playing longer or fixed duration activities like Crucible competitive multiplayer matches and the Leviathan Raid, and XP will scale down when playing activities that can be quickly, repeatedly chained, like grinding Public Events. We are not happy with the results, and we’ve heard the same from the community.

Effective immediately, we are deactivating this system.

As a result, players will see XP earn rates change for all activities across the board, but with all values being displayed consistently in the user interface. Over the course of the next week, we will be watching and reviewing XP game data to ensure that these changes meet our expectations, as well as yours. Any additional updates to this system will be communicated to you via our official channels.”

I, Guardian, am unsure how to comment, so I shall not. However, how do you all feel about this?

See you all on Mercury.

New Ways to Play in Destiny 2 – Curse Of Osiris DLC

November 21st saw the second release of content detail for the Curse Of Osiris DLC for Destiny 2. The TiX Guardians are eagerly awaiting this new content as it’s fair to say the endless nights of Destiny 2 have ceased as we’ve all reached our maximum power levels. As previously reported, this expansion coincides with the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro updates.

The Curse of Osiris will contain the biggest Public Event ever. Gate-keepers will be the focal point and once killed, players will be able to pick up keys as a way of progressing through the public event. With this Public Event, there are different islands which allow players to move around the environment, opening up space to other areas that you wouldn’t normally be able to get to when you’re patrolling.

The Lighthouse will make it’s return and players will find significant changes. A new area called The Forge is a Vex weapon wall which shows players’ progression, helping you build various weapons which can be used as end-game weapons. There will also be mysteries players can solve and piece together in the Lighthouse space and Brother Vance will provide new adventures, which will be the cornerstone for players to explore Mercury.

Players can challenge themselves with Heroic Adventures, and modifiers are being added to the Adventures which change it up every time you play. Players’ experiences will be changing with Story Strikes, and in EP1 there will be more Strikes shown as part of the main story which will tell players more about the Campaign.

There is also The Infinite Forest! This is a large Vex simulation constructed to explore infinite possibilities throughout time and is the last place Osiris was last seen. The Infinite Forest offers players a different experience every time, and a great experience whether you’re exploring the past, present or future
Ikora will set players through the forest in order to find demons and unlock the gate.
New ways to explore Mercury – players will experience different versions of Mercury as we move through time, with the Infinite Forest acting as a pathway from the present day into simulated versions of the past, present and future, giving a sense of the unknown, of wonder
Adventures all have different combat races, i.e. – playing one for the Hive or the Fall and players will have a lot of variety. End caps are all hand crafted. Encounters are custom.

For the full story check out Bungies Twitch channel where you can see a replay of the livestream.

What Is in Your Destiny? New Curse of Osiris Information, Mainly

The hype train for Curse of Osiris, expansion one for Destiny 2, has departed from Bungie HQ and is on the route to launch – December 5th.

A huge shout-out to Mesa Sean for doing Cayde’s work and providing the Tower with the stream.

A brief rundown of what came out of the stream is below. To note, there will be a couple of addition streams between now and December 5th, so any information we have now may not be in full context – as is the way of the reveal.

  • Osiris will be found inside the Infinite Forest.
    • The Infinite Forest is a location that will allow players to venture to Mercury during several time-periods – The past, showing a lush untouched world, and the future (The Dark Future), showing the world around our own dying sun. There will be other time periods, too. The long rumoured ‘procedurally generated content’ of the Infinite Forest hasn’t been confirmed nor denied; however it was stated that different combinations of enemies and locales will be used each time you enter. This of course could simply be a small number of slight changes in group makeup, boss rotations and the like. I do look forward to finding out!
  • The story, reported to be around three hours (via IGN), takes place roughly three months after the ending of Destiny 2’s main campaign.
    • The release of the light from The Traveller is what has sparked the events on Mercury.
  • Ikora appears to be the main Vanguard present in this expansion.
  • There will be a female Ghost – a series first. Fail-safe just got put on notice!
  • Heroic Strikes are returning.
  • The raid content is a Raid Lair (not layer).
    • It will be a short experience, featuring new encounters, puzzles and an end boss.
    • It will require power level 300 – as will the current raid. So, sorry to a fellow contributor here on TiX – El Simon – who wanted to breeze through the raid at 335.
    • It will feature a prestige mode, new loot, and a lot of dying.
    • There is a slot on the raid screen for the second raid Lair in expansion two – due in Spring 2018.
  • Mercury itself will have feature the biggest public event to date in Destiny.
  • The Lighthouse will have a glyph area.
    • You unlock glyphs on the wall as you progress through story, both main and postgame, to unlock new weapon quests.
  • Brother Vance returns!
    • He will be an engram NPC, as well as have a role in the story!

There was so much to take in, but the gist of it is this – it is Destiny, with more Destiny. I look forward to the following streams, where I hope we’ll get information on quality of life changes – I am looking at you: repeat extoics and tokens. So. Many. Bloody. Tokens.

On a personal note, I am happy to be able to drop some WiiYD content again. Life as a Guardian has been trying recently, but the overlords at TiX have been supportive and have allowed me time to flounder in my own Vex milk. Drop them a Tweet, if you feel so inclined, and let them know that you love them. Or like them. Or don’t not dislike them. Your call.

LIVE: Bungie at Twitchcon – Lots of News on Seasons

DISCLAIMER: As a live report, this will more than likely contain some errors. Please bear with us, and enjoy the show!

Also, Bungie aren’t selling the seasons angle too well atm. Let’s hope they’ll reorganise their notes before the stream comes back up. Edit: seems they did. (edited)

Events should last 3 weeks at a time, in season 2.

Ice Hockey in the tower

Snowball fights

In the world, strikes and social spaces.

The event is called the Dawning, it’s back from D1. Brings new gear and weapons.

And shaders.

Ooh, they are calling events like Iron Banner ‘rituals’ and they’ll still be weekly.

Iron Banner in season 2 will have direct purchase of guns, via shards and tokens. Thank goodness.

Ornaments, perks and other things unlocked via gameplay. Not just random.

1 more season 1 iron banner

Similar types of things for Trials.

Season 2 IB and Trials weapons will fill in weapon types that S1 didn’t have, ie an energy hand cannon

Faction Rally time

[12:59] The results will be across xbox, PC and ps4

2nd faction Rally will have new weapons for season 1.

Base set through random packages.

However, some awesome looking faction effects.

Unsure how they are awarded, but they look sweet.

Oh, they are shaders.

Shame they aren’t ornaments

Dead Orbit has a linear fusion rifle

Clarion Calls now

Double experience when with clan mates during the ritual

No other rewards apart from Bright Engrams, at least this time around.

Some guy just got sold for 25k glimmer

Bright Engrams get a face lift in season 2

Deej says spicy raymon

Mic drop is being added as emote

Spicy ramen etc won’t be able obtainable after season 1

Season 2 is themed after the Dawning

Ship for season 2…. FM, it looks amazing.

Looks like a Batarang

Another is a table with a kettle on top

The 3rd is like a Falcon head

Sparrow in season 2 actually looks different.

Art team are on the ball

Season 2 Ghosts…. Look amazeballs.

Ps: not seeing ANYTHING about new gameplay content atm

Winamp skin for Ghost

It feels like Destiny 2 is becoming PS Home.

However, if they add gameplay / new content, these rewards get even more awesome.

Shaders now

They won’t be limited per season

Bulk deleting of shaders are on the radar

Bright Engram armour is gone after season 1, you’ll get new armour in season 2.

Seems Minecraft themed

Pvp time

Season 2 will have a new pvp map, it’ll be part of a ritual first, then it’ll go into general population.

Heavy hints to a redone map from D1

Sandbox tuning

Apparently, they know our favourite missions…. Not sure how seeing as we don’t have the freedom to replay them.

Clans will be reset in each season

New perks each season

New clan banner

Clan level is 6

Stave awarded for each season

Red Legion stave is OK.

Clan Engram will update each season

Season 2 will have a new enemy as its focus

I hope the new focus will mean new stuff and things

3 big streams in November, talking about how we can evolve etc. I hope that means first dlc news.

What is in Your Destiny? PC Release, Iron Banana, and Prestige Raid. Again.

It’s Sunday, Guardians! I know this message is a couple of days behind schedule but, like Saladin thinking he was Reaper from Overwatch, I have been pretending to be the Bright Lord of Mordor.

B – A – N – N – E – R

Much to the dismay of myself (and others?), Iron Banner is only a week long event – just like the Faction Rally event. Now, we’ve still had no communique from Saladin to say when he’ll return, but let’s hope it’ll be monthly. And he leaves behind his token-totting antics! The Iron Banner exclusive map – Distant Shore – will roll out to all crucible modes after the next reset.

Prestige Raid Will Be Sick!

Not sick like PH fat. Sick like it is being launched with the existing bugs and glitches that are allowing devious Guardians, most likely of Dead Orbit affiliation, to complete encounters by bypassing mechanics and the like. I am unsure why the Vanguard would allow this to continue, but as you’ll read in the attached memo they will be monitoring the race for world first closely.

Memo Attached Like a Fusion Grenade. Oh, Also PC Release Details!

In only 12 days, Destiny 2 will go live on personal computers all over the world. Every player on the PC will be able to start their adventure at the same time, but the clock may display a different time depending on where you’re located. If you want to know the exact time when you can start playing, this nice map will show the ”Go Live” time in your region.

The Prestige

Earlier this week, we postponed the launch of the Prestige Raid. An exploit was discovered that could cast doubt on the legitimacy of the fireteam who captures the coveted title of World First. We have been working on a fix, but the short-term solution contains too much risk. The last thing we want to do is fix an exploit some players are using, only to break other parts of the game for everyone. Because of this, we are pushing the fix off to a later date.

“Does that mean you are delaying Prestige Raid again?”

No, the Prestige Raid will still begin on October 18 at 10AM Pacific. We don’t want to make you wait any longer to experience what the raid team has cooked up for those of you who enjoy a challenge worthy of your talents.

One thing we did accomplish as part of our investigation was the creation of a way to verify a clean finish. We can now detect if any teams use this exploit to gain an advantage. This will take some extra time to verify, but we will be able to crown the winners with the confidence they deserve.

A safe fix is still being investigated for this issue. Our current plan is to deploy it as part of a future update. We’ll give you more details before it’s ready to go.

This isn’t the only upcoming raid news. We will be back next week to tell you about Raid Challenges that have been designed to make you rethink familiar encounters.

Feedback Frenzy

Ever since launch, there has been feedback posted anywhere and everywhere that discussions about Destiny 2 happen on the internet. I’m always dialed into our own feedback forum, as well all other avenues you travel to share your ideas with us. Some topics are as broad as “ways to make the Crucible more fun.” Some are much more specific, like “Add a method to mass delete shaders.”

We’re reading as much of your chatter as we possibly can. There are millions of you, after all. One thing we have noticed is a lot of discussions about the Endgame and how it can be improved. Right now, these discussions are also happening in our studio. We are listening, but need time to digest everything and draw up the best plans for the future. We will have more to say on this soon. Please stay tuned, and keep the conversation rolling.

What is in Your Destiny? Xur, Iron Banner, Level Cap and the Prestige Raid.

It’s Friday, Guardians. We all know what this means; communique from above, and a visit from the beyond.

Xuring is Caring

What does the Agent of the Nine have for us this week?

  • Vigilance Wing – Pulse Rifle – 29 Shards
  • Foetracer – Hunter Helm – 23 Shards
  • An Insurmountable Skullfort – Titan Helm – 23 Shards
  • Nezarec’s Sin – Titan Helm – 23 Shards

Two in the Crowd

There is a lot to digest in what I’m about to C&P from the Bungie blog, but three parts standout for me, the first being there is zero mention of a power level increase with the release of the prestige version of Leviathan. Secondly, no new weapons from Iron Banner? Edit: Bungie have confirmed there are weapons, too.  At least the new armour is unique looking! Whilst the third comes at the tail end of the blog post, I’d like to share that now, if you’ll indulge me.

On a personal note; just the other night, after we caught up in the Crucible, I had dinner with a dude I met as my teammate in a Bungie game eleven years ago. I am a product of the Bungie community. My challenge to every Guardian is to look to the human element in Destiny 2 to fuel your appetite for ultimate re-playability. The ultimate loot is the friendships that can grow out of a game like this. There will be more gear to add to your character (next week, even). The rewards that I’m talking about are the people in the community that thrives in this game. If you let them, they’ll make your hobby as a light-dealing hero on a starside campaign for glory even better.

Thanks to those of you who are helping us to drive that scene.

DeeJ, out.

Iron Banner

The Return of the Iron Lord

The Red War scattered the heroes of humanity across the solar system. One by one, they have been returning to the City. Now, Lord Saladin will hold court and reward the brave.

Begins: October 10, 2AM Pacific
Ends: October 17, 2AM Pacific

The game is Control.

As the first Faction Rally comes to an end, the Iron Lords are hosting the next ritual. Their special event has undergone some changes. The Iron Banner is still your chance to stand and be proven in the fires of friendly competition.

What’s different? (From Destiny 1)
Combat will be between two teams of four players
Your fighting abilities, not your power levels, will decide the outcome
Bounties and Ranks have been replaced with an Iron Banner Engram

How can you compete?
Complete the Destiny 2 campaign – the only way to reach the Tower
Visit Lord Saladin in the Tower to begin the Iron Banner Quest
Fight in the Iron Banner playlist with Quickplay modes and matchmaking

What’s in it for you?
Earn Iron Banner Tokens in every match (earn more if you win)
Daily and Season* Milestones that track your progress to glory
Claim brand new armour wrought in the forges of the Iron Lord

Prestige Raid

You’re the Best… Around!

Combat against other Guardians not your thing? The ultimate PVE challenge also arrives in your Director on Tuesday at 10AM Pacific. The morning after the weekly reset begins a new invitation from Calus to join him for the Prestige Raid.

We do not expect everyone to be successful in completing this activity. Mechanical changes to the encounters are minimal, but they are there. The Prestige Raid is about mastering a more punishing sandbox. Our goal is not to provide a boon to your character progression, but there are unique rewards to help you shine. Consider this your invitation to prove to the world that you are among the very best of the Raiders who overlook the City.

World First will be counted. We can tell you no more.

Good luck!
