Disney shuts the toy box on Infinity

Disney have decided to cease production of Disney Infinity. Many of the toys and games have plummeted in price recently, so it’s hardly surprising that Disney have decided to shut the toy box – what is surprising is that many of my friend’s children still enjoy playing the game for hours on end.

The announcement doesn’t reveal much as to why Disney have made the decision to stop production, but my guess is that LEGO Dimensions may have sealed Infinity’s fate when it launched in September last year. Will Skylanders follow Infinity’s fate? For Greg’s sake, I hope not – he does love a good toy-to-game collectible figure!

There will be three characters from Alice Through the Looking Glass will go on sale later this month with a Finding Dory Play Set launching in June.

Disney Infinity to become a battleground from tomorrow

It’s time to prepare for a battle as Disney Infinity gets set launch Marvel Battlegrounds. Developed by United Front Games, in partnership with Avalanche Software, Marvel Battlegrounds is the first Disney Infinity Play Set to introduce a new four-player, local co-op, brawler style gameplay. The Play Set features an original Marvel storyline and full compatibility with all Disney Infinity Marvel figures, including new characters Captain America – The First Avenger, Ant-Man, and Black Panther – whose costumes are inspired by the upcoming film, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War which is due out at the end of April.

In the original storyline of Marvel Battlegrounds, Ultron teams up with Loki in an effort to steal Wakanda’s most valuable resource, Vibranium. Captain America, along with the universe’s greatest Super Heroes, leap into action but before they can uncover Loki’s plans for the precious metal, their nemesis creates robotic replicas of the famed Marvel Super Heroes and turn them against each other. The Marvel Super Heroes battle each other in iconic environments such as a wrecked Brooklyn train yard, Wakanda mines and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Lunar Base, culminating in a universe-shaking battle against Ultron. Players engage in the ultimate rumble and choose from more than 25 Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains, and battle through 12 levels across eight dynamic arenas.

In addition, a new Marvel Battlegrounds Power Disc Pack will be sold separately and includes:

  • Cosmic Cube Blast – Unleash a powerful energy blast on nearby foes

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Play Set coming to Disney Infinity

A brand new Star Wars playset is coming to Disney Infinity 3.0. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens Play Set will be available on December 18, just a day after The Force Awakens releases in cinemas.

The playset will allow players to travel to a galaxy far, far away alongside new heroes and old friends in search for a much-needed ally. Playable characters include Finn, a soldier on a path to adventure and danger, and Rey, a true survivor who is resourceful and capable. Both will join Poe Dameron, the trusted pilot of the Resistance who uses his expert flying skills to travel the galaxy, and Kylo Ren, an enforcer for the First Order who terrorises the galaxy with devious acts.

In addition to the characters native to Star Wars: The Force Awakens Play Set, fans will also be able to unlock and play with all other Star Wars characters from other Star Wars Play Sets from Star Wars Twilight of the Republic and Star Wars Rise Against The Empire, as well as the Star Wars Rebels characters.

You’ll be able to preorder the playset soon.
