Halo Wars 2 and Seven more coming to Game Pass in February

Another eight titles are being added to the Game Pass library from 1st February 2018 including Halo Wars 2, which was reviewed highly by our very own Dave Moran. You can read his Halo Wars 2 review right here!

The seven other games arriving are NBA 2K17, WWE 2K17, Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition, Rime, Fable Anniversary, Riptide Renegade GP and Letter Quest: Grimms Journey.

NBA 2K17 – Well, consider the ante upped this February as the critically acclaimed NBA 2K17 enters the Xbox Game Pass catalog and brings everything you loved about NBA 2K16, plus so much more. NBA 2K17 once again delivers all 30 NBA-licensed franchises and arenas, as well as an even deeper roster of international and classic teams and players. And as fans of the franchise have come to expect, NBA 2K17 delivers perhaps the best single-player career experience in MyCAREER. If you’re into developing dynasties and managing front offices, NBA 2K17’s stellar MyGM mode might be right up your alley. The next level leaps are most evident in MyTeam, a deep and diverse game mode that offers you the opportunity to build your very own NBA dream team, complete a multitude of mini-games and challenges, and take on the computer or players online in competitive matchmaking.

WWE 2K17 – With WWE 2K17’s addition to Xbox Game Pass on February 1, members can dive into a new round of more than 130 WWE Superstars, Legends and Hall of Famers, classic matches, fan-favorite creation options, and even more available via DLC, your favorite WWE-centric content is almost certain to be found in WWE 2K17. Have you dreamed of entering the ring? If so, WWE 2K17’s MyCareer mode will help you launch your own path to digital stardom. You can also create your own WWE rivalries, interviews, and pay-per-view events in WWE Universe mode. And, of course, there is online multiplayer available if you want to test your skills and compete with other gamers over Xbox Live. WWE 2K17 even lets you take the action outside the ring, in the crowd, and into backstage areas! There’s so much to do in WWE 2K17, you may lose track of time! Just don’t lose track of your opponent or you might be introduced to a steel chair!

Halo Wars 2 – Microsoft’s own 343 Industries is getting in on the Xbox Game Pass action in February, bringing you Halo Wars 2, the beautiful and challenging RTS sequel to Halo Wars. Build out your bases, gather and manage critical resources, and defeat enemy factions with your superior military strategy and combat. Solo or co-op, Halo Wars 2 is among the very best strategy games on Xbox, and we are excited to have it join the fray on Xbox Game Pass. And for those of you who have an Xbox One X, you’ll be pleased to know that Halo Wars 2 is Xbox One X Enhanced, with 4K HDR support, as well as super-sampled anti-aliasing for 1080P tv sets (it’s as impressive as it sounds).

Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition – Our parade of stellar sequels continues with THQ Nordic’s action RPG Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition. Many of our Xbox Game Pass members jumped into Darksiders Warmastered Edition so now’s a great opportunity to continue exploring the tale of The Four Horsemen — this time as Death. Discover his story through epic quests and challenging side missions while battling enemies, toppling bosses, and solving puzzles along the way. Defeat Corruption and prepare yourself for the next chapter in the story: Darksiders III, coming soon to Xbox One!

Fable Anniversary – With the addition of the gorgeous and engaging remaster of the original Fable game, Xbox Game Pass members can now play through the entire Fable trilogy. Each game in the series offers a tremendous story and RPG experience. And with Xbox Game Pass, getting Fable is easy. The hard part will be putting the controller down once you’ve become engrossed in Fable’s incredible world of action and adventure!

Rime – If you enjoy immersive single-player puzzle-adventure games then indie gem Rime is for you. In Rime, you control a young boy isolated on a seemingly deserted island and must help him solve puzzles on his journey to escape the island. With a unique and beautiful aesthetic and a story inspired by the five stages of grief, Rime is an experience a bit unlike anything else in Xbox Game Pass. We’re hopeful you love its charm and ingenuity every bit as much as we do!

Riptide Renegade GP – Racers and jet ski fans, we’ve got something this month for you as well with Vector Unit’s fast-paced aquatic racer Riptide Renegade GP hitting the catalog in February. Riptide Renegade GP is a futuristic racing game with realistic physics and tight controls, as well multiple modes for you to enjoy. Complete events, enter tournaments, and start collecting victories against friends through local co-op, or online with Xbox Live!

Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey – Similar to Rime, indie diamond-in-the-rough Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey offers a unique story-based experience for Xbox Game Pass members. In Letter Quest, your objective is to spell words to unlock attacks on monsters, new items, boosters, and new chapters in the storyline. With a unique style of play, replayable levels with multiple new challenges, and some RPG flair, you may be surprised at how much fun you’ll have in Letter Quest.

Return to Albion with Fable Fortunes

Lionhead Studios may well have ceased, but Fable lives in within the hearts of Flaming Fowl and Mediatonic, who are releasing Fable Fortune – a collectible card game based in the world of Albion.

Releasing July 11 on Xbox One and PC, Fable Fortune features six heroes each with their own powers and cards. Best of all is that the devs are based her in good ol Blighty, so expect the same crazy chicken kickin’ humour that the Lionhead team once made their calling card. Now all we need is an E3 announcement of a new full Fable game, rather than the somewhat flawed Fable Legends, and all our Albion chicken kicking needs will be fulfilled.

Lionhead Studios set to close

Over on Xbox Wire earlier today we were greeted with the sad news that proposals are in place to close Lionhead Studios, famous for the Fable series. The article explained:

These have been tough decisions and we have not made them lightly, nor are they a reflection on these development teams – we are incredibly fortunate to have the talent, creativity and commitment of the people at these studios. The Lionhead Studios team has delighted millions of fans with the Fable series over the past decade.

This also means that the development of Fable Legends will cease. There was also bad news for Press Play Studios in Denmark, which will also close.

Press Play imbued the industry with a unique creative spirit behind games like Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Kalimba, which both captured passionate fans. These changes are taking effect as Microsoft Studios continues to focus its investment and development on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting and want to play.

Sad times, our thoughts are with all those that are affected.

Fable Legends Beta To A Select Few Today

Fable-Legends-Das-Koop-Rollenspiel-in-neuen-Gameplay-Videos-2

Lionhead Studios have unleashed the fabulous and totally addictive multiplayer of Fable Legends on to a select group of players in their closed Beta prior to the games release. We had a hands-on session at Gamescom this year and can not recommend it enough!

For details on how to get involved you can take a ganders over the Fable Legends Blog page:

“First and foremost, this will be a real Closed Beta test and we want your help to make Fable Legends the incredible experience we’re aiming for. We’re inviting fans to help test the game as early in the development process as possible; not only do we want your help with identifying bugs, glitches and crashes, we also want to hear your ideas, feedback and suggestions!

With that in mind, on October 16th we’ll be inviting a handful of players to help test a very small slice of Fable Legends gameplay. These testers will be given the opportunity to provide detailed feedback on key areas of the game, and as we progress through the coming months we’ll gradually introduce more content and new features to be tested in the Beta.

If you’re not invited to test right away, don’t panic! With more content being introduced we’ll need more people to help test, and so further waves of invitations will be sent out as Beta progresses. Ultimately we hope to have a significant portion of our registrants in game before we leave Closed Beta.”

Fable Trilogy Spotted on Xbox LIVE

FABLE BUNDLE

It looks as though Microsoft and Lionhead Studios will be celebrating the launch of the upcoming Fable Anniversary game on the 7th February by coinciding a trilogy bundle over Xbox LIVE. This bundle includes full Xbox 360 titles for Fable Anniversary, Fable II and Fable III. The bundle pack offers these games together at a discounted rate over individual purchases.

First spotted by Gamespot, and then confirmed by Microsoft who also have details available on Xbox LIVE.

The games in this bundle are available as individual downloads in the Xbox Games marketplace and are exactly the same. Be aware that it is possible to download the same game twice. If you already own one of these games there is no additional discount on this bundle, nor do you receive an additional copy of the game you already own.

Fable Anniversary Goes Gold With Pre Order Bonuses

fable-anniversary-art

Lionhead has announced that Fable Anniversary has gone GOLD! – and that actual physical copies of the game are being shipped to retailers in time for the launch on February 7th 2014. If the launch itself isn’t enough to get you all tingly, it was also announced that by ordering from selected retailers you’ll also be able to get your hands on one of the following packs:

Peiratēs Pre Order Pack
  • Peiratēs Outfit – Peiratēs was a famous plunderer, known for travelling uncharted waters to take entire cargo ships hostage for their most expensive items. He was also known by the name “Pete” in less formal circles.
  • Peiratēs Cutlass – A weapon used at sea needs to be both practical and effective. Peiratēs spent years refining this weapon so that the hook could be used to catch fish, the tip could be used to eat fish, and the blade could be used to slit a man’s throat.
Snowspire Pre Order Pack
  • Snowspire Guard Outfit – Made from genuine horse hair, this outfit is said to calm even the most vocal of criminals.
  • The Jackarse – An age-old popular pasttime was run by a chap named Jack, who used to slap people around the face with a dead fish until they fell onto their arse. The rest, as they say, is history…
Apollo’s Pre Order Pack
  • Apollo’s Outfit – Apollo is the pseudonym for the leader of The Grey Company, the man responsible for monitoring Lady Grey’s financial investments. As fearsome as that may sound, he had a reputation for being incredibly nice, often using his own money to bail out any villager that couldn’t afford that months rent.
  • Apollo’s Crossbow – Based on a centuries old concept, Apollo wanted to create a modern crossbow with the feel of a relic from the past – and thus this crossbow was born. Dependable in combat, but also pretty tasty to look at.

For the collectors among you, don’t panic, these items will be available for purchase on the Xbox Game Store later in the year if you are unable to find what you want from your favourite retailer.

Fable Legends Trailer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQyv9IDi1Qw

Fable Legends was announced for Xbox One earlier this morning during Gamescom and now we get to show you the trailer. For the first time, up to four Heroes can cooperatively discover the quests and stories of Albion. Or, play the villain where you can mastermind the game in real time. “Fable Legends” takes advantage of the graphical processing power of Xbox One, and when coupled with Unreal Engine 4, delivers a rich and beautiful world.

In Fable Legends, you’re never completely alone. You can play the game single player, with a party of three heroic AI companions that follow your lead through stories and adventures. Or you can play cooperatively with up to three friends and discover the game’s quests and content together. Play whatever style you want, when you want. After all, you’re the Hero. And just what kind of Hero you choose to play is up to you.

Fable Legends takes you back to a time when Albion is teeming with Heroes, so there’s bound to be one for you. Fearless warriors. Cunning tricksters. Masters of Will. Paragons of virtue. Heartless mercenaries. Intoxicated brawlers. Chicken chasers. They’re all here, and many more besides. You’ll be able to customize your abilities, alter your appearance, and advance your Hero by earning experience and finding new armour, weapons, and treasures.

Competition – Create An Achievement For Fable Anniversary!

fable achievement comp

Lionhead Studios have put their Lion Heads together (see what we done there, Ok you’re ignoring it) to come up with a funky competition that will allow YOU, yes YOU if you are chosen to design an Achievement for their upcoming Fable Anniversary when it is released later this year.

We’ll be handing the creative baton to our community by asking YOU to dream up the most creative, challenging, fun and unique achievements possible. Once we’ve got your ideas, we’ll sit down and shortlist our favourite 5 and, once again, hand the wand of decision making (previously known as the creative baton) back to you by asking you to vote for your favourite achievement.

Not only will the achievement voted by the community be included in Fable Anniversary, but the author’s name will also be placed in the games credits. The winner will also be given a free copy of Fable Anniversary when it becomes available, and all 5 finalists will each receive a Fable Anniversary T-shirt (by Insert Coin Clothing) and a batch of E3 badges.

You can read the rules and enter via the link below:

Fable III Is Currently FREE on Games on Demand

Fable-3-Logo

Thanks to OXM, I was able to purchase the full game of FABLE III for FREE as it is currently sitting on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace available for anyone with an Xbox LIVE Gold Subscription. We do not know why this is in place, but it could be part of a yet to be announced E3 promotion.

OXM Noted:

Clicking through to purchase the game via Xbox.com, gold subscribers can download the game for free by clicking the option to pay using Microsoft points, at which point it will be discounted.

We’re not complaining and the 5.61GB download is currently in progress – do make sure you click to buy with the Microsoft Points option to ensure no payment is taken from card or paypal payment setup.

Thanks: OXM

Update: Xbox UK acknowledges the game is free on Dashboard.
