Train harder with For Honor’s newest mode

Ubisoft continue to adapt and support their titles by offering new ways to entice new players and help the existing fanbase. For Honor’s next update brings an all-new training mode, which arrives April 19.

The new training mode will not only help new players learn the basics of the game’s mechanics without being butchered by online players or the game’s tough AI, but the mode will also offer existing players a place to hone their skills with each of the game’s character classes.

This isn’t just a Street Fighter-esque tacked on mode either, there are a whole host of options from tutorial videos to hands-on advanced techniques that will teach you to become a better fighter and evaluate your efforts. And yes… there is of course that Street Fighter training dojo should you want to open up on a dummy opponent.

You could argue that this mode should have shipped with the game, but let’s look at the positives here… it’s great to see that Ubisoft are constantly listening to their fans and continue to improve their games long after their initial release.

For Honor Grudge & Glory

For Honor is kicking off Season 3 on August 15 with Grudge & Glory, its biggest season to date and here’s a trailer showing off the new maps, heroes, gear and updates to the gameplay.

Highlander, a viking hybrid, can switch between two fighting styles and wields the heaviest and longest sword in the game – bow chicka bow wow – while the Gladiator, a Knight Assassin, is equipped with little armour but packs a trident and shield combo. Agile and with a large stamina meter, these guys will be a tough foe to put down.

The two new maps launching as part of Grudge & Glory are Sentinel and Viking Village, both of which have an environmental hazard to contend with. Season 3 also introduces new legendary gear and increases the cap on hero reputation to 40. Competitive play also launches for 1v1 duels.

For Honor to get dedicated servers

As For Honor enters the second half of 2017, Ubisoft are gearing up for 2018 by rolling out some big changes to the game. The biggest change – dedicated servers – have been long awaited (and requested) by fans, with peer-to-peer issues plaguing the game since launch.

While we wait for dedicated servers, the team remain dedicated to implemented changes to increase the stability of peer-to-peer, which has seen a vast improvement over the course of updates the game has received since launch.

For Honor will also get several new modes, including a training mode to hone your skills without being punished by skilled online players. Competitive play will receive duel tournament and ranked 4v4 matches, and a new unannounced 4v4 PvP game mode.

“Since launch, our team has worked diligently to identify and correct issues that were not apparent with our testing and live phases,” said Roman Campos-Oriola, Creative Director of For Honor. “The For Honor roadmap is how we plan to build a stronger game through elements like dedicated servers. We are committed to our players and look to offer long-term support for the game.”

The next For Honor seasons are due to kick off in August and November, and will launch with numerous game balancing tweaks, new heroes, maps and gear – check out the proposed season details in this handy graphic:

For Honor Competitive Multiplayer “Hero Series” announced

Ubisoft have announced For Honor Hero Series, an international tournament program organised in partnership with ESL, taking place this summer starting 8th July across all platforms in Europe and the United States. Following the weekly competitions, 16 of the top players will participate in a live event on August 12th in Burbank, California where they will play for $10,000 in cash prizes.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other Ubisoft studios, For Honor offers an engaging campaign and thrilling multiplayer modes. Players embody warriors of the three Great Factions – the bold Knights, the brutal Vikings and the deadly Samurai – fighting to the death on intense and believable melee battlefields. The Art of Battle, the game’s innovative combat system that puts players in total control of their warriors, allows them to utilize the unique skills and combat style of each hero to vanquish all enemies who stand in their way.

This first For Honor Hero Series aims to take the game’s competitive landscape to a new level with an open call for players to join online weekly 1v1 Duel tournaments across the three available platforms over four weeks. Starting July 8th, registered players will earn points based on their rankings following each tournament. Top players from each platform will be selected based on overall tournament standings and invited to battle in a Live Finals event where platform champions will be crowned in Burbank, CA.

The Finals will be broadcasted live on the For Honor Twitch channel (twitch.tv/forhonorgame), For Honor’s Facebook Live, as well as on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/ubisoft), providing players the opportunity to showcase their skill on the big stage. The For Honor Hero Series will continue to grow following this first competition while listening to the community and participant feedback. To learn more about the For Honor Hero Series and register for online qualifiers, please visit: forhonorgame.com/heroseries.

“At ESL we are committed to growing the esports landscape and For Honor’s competitive ecosystem has been something we’ve all been looking forward to,” said Sean Charles, VP of Publisher and Developer Relations, ESL. “With the For Honor Hero Series and the addition of ranked mode, there is a lot in store for future For Honor players.”

For Honor’s competitive play will continue following the Hero Series when ranked mode releases in a future update. Ranked mode will initially offer on-demand tournaments for Duel. In future updates, the ranking system will expand to Brawl as well as 4v4 game modes. For Honor’s ranking system will allow players to have separate ranks for each game mode type while fighting for higher rankings and win exclusive loot. Those looking to get a sneak peek at ranked mode and more about the game’s future evolution can participate in the upcoming second Public Test for Duel Tournament, which will incorporate community feedback and changes to the defensive meta.
