Coming courteous of a press release, we received the news that musical composer Boris Salchow (Resistance 2&3, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time) swaps his baton and orchestra for Moog synthesizers and rare vintage audio processors as he reunites with Insomniac Games to score their new sci-fi video game FUSE published by Electronic Arts.
German-born composer Boris Salchow is classically trained but just at home in the electronic music world. Combining these two worlds he began his scoring career writing commercials, promos and prime time television series for leading networks in Germany. Now based in Los Angeles Salchow has composed for feature films and video games including the internationally-released action thriller 80 Minutes, additional music for Elsewhere, and additional music for the Sony/Screen Gems’ teenage horror mystery Prom Night. Salchow ‘s music can also be heard in Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, Sony’s Resistance 2, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time, and Resistance 3. Salchow continues to write music for commercials, promos and trailers for some of the most prestigious brands in the world including Adidas, Audi, and Lamborghini.
The latest game he turns his musical genius to – FUSE, thrusts players into the roles of four elite, covert agents each with their own Xenotech weapon and set of unique skills used to fight to protect mankind from a deadly alien energy source known as FUSE. Salchow’s original score blends analog electronic elements, adrenaline infused drums and musical sound design to provide a foreboding and rousing sonic landscape for FUSE’s dark futuristic setting and intense co-op action experience.
FUSE will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 28th in North America and May 31st in Europe.
EA and Insomniac Games have released an action-packed demo for the co-op shooter, Fuse. The fast-paced demo allowa players to play online cooperatively with up to four other players, or in a 2-player split-screen mode.
Fuse is a co-op action game that allows both co-op and solo players to experience the unique attributes of each operative by using the game’s unique LEAP feature. Players can use LEAP to switch between the four Overstrike operatives at-will during combat. Each of the four characters is equipped with unique skills and weapons that are not only necessary for survival, but also create unexpected and extraordinary results. Powered by Fuse, the Xenotech weapons give players unique capabilities to expand their strategic options in combat. Through lethal teamwork, players can combine their weapons for unique kills to earn Fuse points for powerful upgrades.
In the demo, which can be downloaded as of now from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, players will take on the role of four elite operatives – Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble and Naya Deveraux. These special agents are out to protect mankind from Fuse, a deadly alien energy source which has been stolen by the rogue paramilitary organisation, Raven. Each of the characters delivers a unique gameplay experience, as they have their own individual and unique “Xenotech” weapon and specialised skills. Players will use these abilities as they track down the Fuse source in a snowy secret weapon depot. Developed by the critically-acclaimed independent studio, Insomniac Games, Fuse will mark the company’s first multiplatform release when it becomes available on May 28th in North America and May 31st in Europe.
You may remember a while back there were some interesting trailers for a third-person four-player co-op shooter named Overstrike. The game looked as though it had some promise, but that was the last we had heard of it for a while. Well now that game is known as Fuse and EA have set a release date for the title, May 28th in North America, and May 31st in Europe.
According to EA, you can “join up to three friends in team-based co-op play as you take down the rogue paramilitary corporation behind the theft. Use lethal teamwork, coordinate devastating attacks, and provide cover for one another with fringe-tech weapons and gadgets. The unique LEAP feature lets you instantly shift from agent to agent during combat, allowing you to take advantage of each one’s special arsenal.
