HyperX CloudX Revolver Gears of War 4 headset edition

There’s a new headset brand coming to the world of Xbox One and it’s Gears of War 4 branded!

Developed alongside Microsoft and The Coalition, the headset is made by HyperX, a division of Kingston Technology Company. The headset is a reskinned version of the company’s existing CloudX headset, featuring the classic Crimson Omen splash on the ear cup.

Shipping in September, the CloudX Revolver Gears of War headset will be shown off during SDCC.

“Gears of War 4 is one of the highly anticipated games of the year and begins a new era in the Gears franchise with new heroes, new enemies and new features never before seen in a Gears of War game,” said Jerry Chu, Director of Licensing at The Coalition. “We are proud to work with HyperX in developing a headset that is harmonious with the Gears look and feel, and most importantly, immerses gamers into our universe to bring the experience alive.”

“HyperX is excited to be working with Microsoft to offer gamers a headset that enhances their Gears of War gaming experience,” said Daniel Kelley, director of marketing, HyperX. “Working with them and The Coalition, we are able to bring our signature HyperX comfort and sound quality along with bold Gears styling to Xbox One gamers and Gears fans alike. We cannot wait to show it off at Comic-Con and give fans the first opportunity to buy it.”

New official Xbox One headset announced

HyperX have been in the headset game for a little while. Their PC headset, the Cloud II, has been busy winning awards left, right and centre. This division of memory guru’s, Kingston, is now looking to break into the console market and have scored a major coup by snagging an agreement with Microsoft to make officially licensed headsets for the Xbox One.

The CloudX Pro Gaming headset has now been announced and will hit the shops in Q2 of 2016. Based on the Cloud II, this will feature 53mm drivers, in-line volume controls, a 3.5mm jack for the controller adapter or controllers that have the headset jack integrated and the Rolls-Royce of comfort for the ear cushions; memory foam.

That’s not the end of the features for this new official headset though. It promises to have a padded leather headband, with custom stitching. The mic detaches, a popular feature for new headsets now, with a closed-cup design that will help block out ambient noise. This headset also promises to come bundled with a hard-shell carrying case to protect them during storage or travel.

HyperX general manager, Anders Willumsen;

We are proud to work with Microsoft on its Xbox One gaming platform and bring our headset expertise to the console world. We have always known we would enter the gaming console market since releasing our first headset for PC gamers almost two years ago. There are natural synergies between our two companies as HyperX has a strong PC presence and the Xbox One console provides deeper integration with PC gaming via the Xbox App on Windows 10.

There’s no news on pricing at the moment, or the exact release date, but it’s looking good for the official gaming headset for Xbox One.
