Torment: Tides of Numenera coming soon

Torment Tides Numenera

There are a few sci-fantasy games knocking around at the minute. They hold a special place in my gaming repertoire. I loved titles like Flashback and Another World and the thought of being able to roam around a totally fantasy world, but with technology, fills me with intrigue.

Techland have today announced that they will publish inXile Entertainment’s highly anticipated Torment: Tides of Numenera on Xbox One. This has been made possible by one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns in videogaming history. This has enabled inXile to develop Torment on console and will launch at the same time as the PC release.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is a story set a billion years into Earth’s future. Journey across the Ninth World, a fantastic, original setting with incredible visuals and unusual inventory items. Use these items in and out of combat as well as conjuring victory with stunning feats of magic.

Plan your way through hand-crafted set-pieces in combat. This can also combine battles with environmental puzzles, social interaction and stealth. Your choices matter as well, with morality taking a large part in the Ninth World. It’s not a simple matter of right and wrong. Torment: Tides of Numenera promises to be a deeply replayable experience that will arise naturally from your own actions throughout the game.

The story will be character-driven and epic, while retaining that personal feel. There are also deep philosophical undertones to the story and it will be interesting to see how these develop as you progress through the game.

inXile’s CEO, Brian Fargo;

After the critical and commercial success of Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut on consoles, and with fans clamouring for it, it has been in our plans to bring Torment: Tides of Numenera to Playstation 4 and Xbox One. We’re especially excited to be partnering with Techland, who as developers themselves, perfectly understand how to do a release without any compromise to the quality of the title.

Now, you can find out a little more about the game here and if you’re lucky enough to be heading to Gamescom this year, then the title will have it’s console showcase for the public in Hall 10.1.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is scheduled for a Q1 2017 release on Xbox One.

If you’re heading to Gamescom and have the opportunity to have a look, let us know what you think in the comments below.
