Meet more of The Dwarves in new character trailers

It’s been a few days since the first Dwarves character trailer introduced us to Boindil. THQ Nordic and King Art Games have since released two further character trailers for the RPG which will be hitting the Xbox One platform on the 1st of December.

Up first is Rodario.

Rodario isn’t your usual Dwarf. Firstly, it’s apparant that he’s not actually a Dwarf. He’s human. Not only is he the most versatile, but Rodario is also the most theatrical hero of the party of adventurers. Rodario likes to dazzle his foes with his acting prowess as well as his fighting skills. In addition to his more thespian talents, Rodario carries an effective flamethrower and other tools. With this deadly firepower, he can ensure that his enemies do not get too close to him, but if they manage to get within striking distance, he uses his outstanding acting skill to fake his own death, or even to persuade those he is fighting against, to fight for him instead.

In extreme cases, Rodario will even disguise himself as one of his enemies so that they will ignore him and he can strike when they least expect it. The Flamethrower he carries is best used to disperse large groups of foes, as does the Acid Cloud he can throw. The Cloud of Sleep that he also wields makes those he is fighting against drift off instantly into the land of nod. Add these to his acting ability and it’s clear that this slightly over-sized Dwarf is the most versatile of opponents.

Second up, and the new Dwarves trailer released today, is Narmora.

Narmora is the assassin of the party. She specialises in single combat scenarios, but is equally as devastating fighting groups of enemies. Narmora is able to use the rarest of Dwarves skill, ‘Shadow Step’. This allows her to appear anywhere on the battlefield in the blink of an eye or to teleport back and forth to quickly assassinate up to 10 targets with her ‘Assassination’ or ‘Shadow Death’ skills. Silent, swift, but possibly not the most resilient.

Rodario and Narmora, along with Boindil, are a few of the 15 playable characters that will be available in The Dwarves when it is released on the 1st of December.

Will you be joining the Dwarven Party?

Come and meet Boindil of The Dwarves

The Dwarves

You know that a game is lining up for a release when the developer and publisher start releasing a string of teaser trailers. The Dwarves, developed by King Art Games and THQ Nordic, is today starting this very sequence. After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015, King Art are now past the position to make the final adjustments to the much-anticipated game and prepare it for final digital and physical release.

They have released today, the first of a series of character trailers in preparation for The Dwarves being unleashed upon the world on the 1st of December. The hero spotlight for this debut character trailer is Boindil Twoblade.

Boindil Twoblade is one of Tungdil’s most loyal companions and friends. He is a ferocious fighter, quick and extremely agile. He can outpace both his enemies and his allies in battle.

Wielding two axes, Boindil is the killing machine of The Dwarves. He is brave and wild and loves a good brutal fight. Boindil Twoblade is just one of the 15 playable characters in The Dwarves. This new fantasy RPG will see players fighting in real-time against overwhelming superior forces, all with just a handful of heroes to fight with.

Boindil will defeat his foes with a range of melee attacks, including Blade Storm which is a flurry of flashing axe heads, Ireheart which makes Boindil berserk, Leap which knocks opponents to the ground and the oddly-named Oink-Oink which lures enemies away from more hard-pressed allies.

You can find out a little more about the game here, including a ‘making of’ reel for the soundtrack, which is composed by long time developer collaborator, Benny Oschmann. You might recognise his work if you’ve played Kinect Rush, Hitman Absolution or The Settlers 7.

The Dwarves is due for release on the 1st of December. Here’s the Boindil trailer.

Crowdfunding campaign launched for tactical RPG The Dwarves

Following its début at Gamescom in August, KING Art Games looks to the gaming community to get The Dwarves completed.

KING Art Games’ Creative Director Jan Theysen:

Both of our previous crowdfunding campaigns have been a great experience for us. We could make the games the way we’ve envisioned them, and are sure that the final games were improved due to the early community feedback. So for us it’s a no-brainer to go to Kickstarter once more. If you want more beer, beards and battles in your life, The Dwarves is the game for you.

Based on the Markus Heitz bestselling fantasy novel, of the same name, players will follow the story of Tungdil Goldhand, a young dwarf raised among humans, who embarks on an epic journey to find his true origin.

Throughout his journey, Tungdil will encounter up to 12 companions, all with their own individual skills and backstory, who can join him on his quest. Such as furious dwarf twins, Boindil and Boendal, who have fought in hundreds of battles. Or the more unusual Rodario, a human actor, who is a weak fighter, but can masquerade himself to catch his opponents by surprise.

The Dwarves features an unprecedented physics-based real-time combat system, and will pit heroes against huge hordes of enemies across 200 locations. Facing enemy troops, completing varied quests, and speaking to numerous NPCs, players will get to experience the world and its rich history.

The Dwarves is currently in development for Xbox One, PC, and Playstation 4. If you wish to back The Dwarves, you can visit the Kickstarter page, here.
