LEGO Dimensions announces five new expansion packs

LEGO Dimensions looks an enormous amount of fun. Sure, the initial base pack is a bit pricey, but the sheer enjoyment of a full LEGO universe has got to be worth that, right? Well, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have mined the recesses of the LEGO franchise and have announced that five new expansion packs will be heading to Xbox One and Xbox 360 for LEGO Dimensions.

These newly revealed expansion packs will be themed on DC Comics’ characters, Doctor Who, Back To The Future, LEGO Ninjago and Ghostbusters. Players can customise their building and gaming adventures by purchasing these Wave 3 level packs, team packs and fun packs. These will provide additional gameplay, buildable characters and rebuildable 3-in-1 vehicles and gadgets. These will also provide special in-game abilities as well as being able to use everything interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game.

The Ghostbusters pack will allow you to expand your spooky experience beyond the starter pack. This will include “A Spook Central Adventure”, where you’ll have to battle Gozer in New York City, a buildable Peter Venkman with Proton Pack, ECTO-1 and ghost trap. All of these are playable within the game. The pack also allows access to the Ghostbusters Adventure World where you could play as any of the four ‘Busters. Trap LEGO ghosts and battle LEGO Mr StayPuft? Yes please.

The DC Comics fun pack will add that touch of mischief as it includes The Joker and Harley Quinn. It also includes Joker’s chopper which can be rebuilt into the Michievous Missile Blaster and The Joker’s Lock ‘n Laser Jet. Harley gets her Quinn-mobile which can be rebuilt into the Quinn Ultra Racer and Missile Launcher for extra abilities in the game.

Not into comics or the supernatural? No problem. You can grab the Doctor Who pack, featuring the Cyberman fun pack. This will give you a Cyberman minifigure and a rebuildable Dalek. The Cyberman will grant you Mind Control, Hacking, Drone, X-RAY Vision, Silver LEGO Blowup, Technology and Dive abilities to solve puzzles and take on enemies in true Whovian style. The Dalek can be rebuilt into a Fire ‘n Ride Dalek and Silver Shooter Dalek.

The Back To The Future pack will feature Doc Brown, everyone’s favourite absent-minded scientist. Place him on the Toy Pad and bring him to life where he reveals his Hacking, Technology, Fix It and Drone abilities. Build the Time Train and rebuild it into the Flying Time Machine or the Missile Blast Time Train for extra abilities and fun.

Finally for this announcement is the LEGO Ninjago pack. Take a wise master on their LEGO adventures with the Sensei Wu fun pack. This includes the revered Sensei himself as well as a buildable Flying White Dragon which can convert into a Golden Fire Dragon and Ultra Destruction Dragon. Utilise Wu’s Spinjitzu skills and other special abilities to solve puzzles and beat enemies.

Here’s the Ghostbusters trailer for your enjoyment. These new five expansion packs for LEGO Dimensions should be available now.

LEGO Dimensions gets original voices of iconic characters

Having the original voice cast in LEGO games wasn’t such an issue back when they just mumbled their lines, but recently the characters in the games have found their voices and begun to recite entire lines from the various scripts the games are based on.

Today, Warner Bros. Games UK have announced that their upcoming LEGO Dimensions has a whole host of voice work from the original actors that the mini figures are based on.

There’s 14 different universes in LEGO Dimensions, spanning game, film and TV, and as the new trailer reveals, the talent on offer includes:

  • Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd from Back to the Future as LEGO mini figure versions of Marty McFly and Doc Brown.
  • The LEGO Movie’s Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Alison Brie and Charlie Day take up their roles as Emmet, Wyldstyle, UniKitty and Benny – plus numerous other actors from the film.
  • The 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi is joined by Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez, who play Clara Oswald and Missy.
  • Batman and Harley Quinn join the fun with Troy Baker and Tara Strong voicing the two roles.
  • Mechanical monster GLaDOS returns with the voicing talents of Ellen McLain, as does the light-hearted but devious Wheatley, voiced by Stephen Merchant.
  • The latest LEGO game, Jurassic World also stomps in on the action with Chris Pratt and Irrfan Khan voicing Owen Grady and Simon Masrani. They are joined by various other members of the cast.
  • There are also some unannounced voicing talents from the original cast of Ghostbusters, The Lord of the Rings, The Simpsons and Scooby-Doo.
