Ice Cube and DJ Shadow get together for Mafia 3 Launch Trailer

Now we all know title tracks and in game music is a major part of game development and in some cases can make or break a game and no one has taken this more seriously than Hangar 13 and 2K when it comes to the release of Mafia 3. In line with the release of the game today they have released the Official Launch Trailer which has a song written specifically for it by Ice Cube and DJ Shadow.

Ice Cube and DJ Shadow’s “Nobody Wants to Die” is an original track that evokes the spirit and themes of Mafia 3 and protagonist Lincoln Clay’s path of revenge against the Italian mafia in 1968 New Bordeaux. Full lyrics for “Nobody Wants to Die,” as well as custom commentary by Ice Cube, is available from Genius.

Mafia 3 is available to buy today for Windows PC and Xbox One and comes in Standard, Limited Deluxe and Collector’s Editions. The Mafia 3 Deluxe Edition (£69.99 MSRP) will be available digitally, and physically in a limited capacity from select retailers, and includes both the game and access to additional, post-release downloadable content, including the Season Pass. The Mafia 3 Collector’s Edition (£139.99 MSRP) is packed with physical and digital items, providing a window into the sights and sounds of 1968 New Bordeaux, including the official soundtrack and original game score, both on 180 gram vinyl, a collectable art book, art prints, and more.

Those who pre-order any edition of Mafia III from participating retailers will receive the Family Kick-Back, which includes three exclusive lieutenant-themed vehicle and weapon gifts available to players at launch.

New Mafia III video causes a racket

2K and Hangar 13 today revealed a new trailer covering the different rackets players can dismantle in Mafia III in a re-imagined New Orleans.

In “The World of New Bordeaux #2 – Rackets,” learn about the hot bed of criminal enterprise in 1968 New Bordeaux, including the pervasive and diverse mob rackets and hideouts that Lincoln Clay targets for takedown throughout the city.

New Mafia III inside look episode released

2K and Hangar 13 hace released Episode 9 of Mafia III Inside Look. In Mafia III Inside Look members of the Hangar 13 writing team (lead writer Bill Harms, senior writer Ed Fowler and senior writer Charles Webb) highlight the relationship between protagonist Lincoln Clay and Thomas Burke, the leader of New Bordeaux’s Irish mob who has teamed up with Lincoln to take down the Marcano family.

Mafia III has an impressive 60s soundtrack

2K has unveiled a massive soundtrack list for its 1960s set title Mafia III, with songs such as “Paint it, Black” by the Rolling Stone and “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash featuring in the game.

In total, the game will have over 100 tracks iconic of the era, as the game is set in the open-world of New Bordeaux in 1968. Here’s a list of some the tracks you’ll be jamming along to:

  • The Rolling Stones: “Paint it, Black,” “Sympathy for the Devil” and more;
  • Creedence Clearwater Revival: “Bad Moon Rising,” “Fortunate Son” and more;
  • Sam and Dave: “Soul Man” and “Hold on, I’m Comin’”;
  • Steppenwolf: “Born To Be Wild” and ”Desperation”;
  • Aretha Franklin: “Respect” and ”Chain of Fools”;
  • Jefferson Airplane: “Somebody To Love” and “White Rabbit”;
  • Sam Cooke: “Wonderful World,” “Bring it on Home to Me” and more;
  • The Temptations: “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” and ”I Wish It Would Rain”;
  • Cream: “White Room”;

The studio head and creative director of development studio Hanger 13, Haden Blackman had this to say about the game’s soundtrack:

From rhythm and blues to the transformative progression of rock and roll, it is critical for us to represent this era accurately and authentically in Mafia III. This soundtrack immerses players into a golden age of music that includes some of the greatest and most beloved artists and music of all time.

The full title launches on October 7th for Xbox One.

Introducing The Marcanos – The Italian Mafia

In the fifth of six episodes, 2K and Hangar 13 introduce The Marcanos – The Italian Mafia.

In this video you can take a look at the four key members of the Marcano family who are at a crossroads as Lincoln Clay tries to tear the old ways apart.

Mafia III introduces Cassandra

2K and Hangar 13 have released a new Inside Look video for Mafia III titled “Mafia III Inside Look – Cassandra” which explores the mysterious and ruthless Cassandra, one of Lincoln Clay’s three underbosses who join forces with him to dismantle Sal Marnano’s criminal empire.  

The video gives you a chance to find out more about the motivations of Cassandra, as the Mafia III writers delve in to Cassandra’s reasons for joining forces with Lincoln Clay.

Mafia III is available on the Xbox One from October 7.

The first video, Lincoln Clay – The Soldier, highlights the gifted anti-hero of Mafia III

The latest video is titled, Cassandra – The Voodoo Queen you can get an inside look at the motivations of the Haitian mob’s alluring “Voodoo Queen” and her relentless plans to destroy New Bordeaux’s human trafficking trade, no matter the cost.
