I am not overly keen on game to movie adaptations. Do remember watching the $48,000,000 production from Hollywood Pictures of Super Mario Bros.? No, there is a reason for that, it was rubbish. It was slammed by the critics and lost a shed load of cash.
But granted, there have been some OK’ish game to movie projects. The Resident Evil franchise (removing my bias against the films) has been extremely successful over the years. Silent Hill, Max Payne, Hitman and Tomb Raider have all experienced degrees of success. A handful of these movies even launching the careers of new actors and actresses.
However I can almost guarantee this particular movie will make its money back on box sales thanks to the success of the Fast & Furious franchise. Orange Wednesday’s down your local theatre are likely to be filled with 20 something males and their reluctant girlfriends… oh the joy!
