The Xbox One that the internet seems to love to hate right now has broken records at Blockbuster for being their most pre-ordered console in its 24-year history!
Blockbuster’s head of games James Morton stated:
We are delighted by the huge number of pre orders that we have received so far for the new Microsoft console … At Blockbuster, we have a fantastic array of adrenaline-fuelled console games for sale or rental. Our expert staff know gaming and they know consoles and these pre-orders are testament to our customers’ trust in us as a leading gaming retailer…
It comes as a bit of a surprise since haters of the console are screaming out for a Sony PS4, and Sony themselves haven’t even announced the requirements for the next-gen Sony console. It is looking more likely that publishers are pushing for both consoles to have DRM tools so that developers can rightfully receive profits from the re-sale of the software licence attached to used games.
A senior official at GameStop confirmed to MVC recently that Sony (our favourite console maker) intends on releasing the Playstaion 4 console globally in 2013 – gearing our excited asses up for a full on worldwide launch this year. No one will miss out.
The statement calms fears that the console will arrive in Europe in 2014.
We know that Sony will introduce the PlayStation 4 globally in 2013, but we are still waiting to see what Microsoft’s final plans are,” Hogan said, speaking at a conference call with financial analysts.
Sony has had a previous history of staggering the release of consoles around the world, but alas for the Playstation 4 we will all rejoice and share this new found next-generation together.
When an official release date for the Playstation 4 has been announced, expect us to be all over it!
