What is in Your Destiny? More Experience Points!

An eagle-eyed Redditor had spotted that the experience points (XP) earned whilst playing Destiny 2 wasn’t being received correctly, so they did a lot of digging and testing. The thread can be seen here – click moi – but the TLDR is below, plus a nice graph for those Cayde-types.

If you earn XP slow, the ingame display is correct. If you play normally, the game drops some XP (~ 50%). If you power-grind XP the game will drop most of your XP (in testing, I managed to lose ~95% of the XP during an ‘enemies moving against each other’ event

Word from the Vanguard has since come down – report here

“We’ve seen community discussion around XP gain in Destiny. After reviewing our data, we agree that the system is not performing the way we’d like it to. Today, we’d like to describe what’s going on under the hood, and talk about what you can expect going forward when it comes to earning XP in Destiny 2.

Currently, XP will scale up when playing longer or fixed duration activities like Crucible competitive multiplayer matches and the Leviathan Raid, and XP will scale down when playing activities that can be quickly, repeatedly chained, like grinding Public Events. We are not happy with the results, and we’ve heard the same from the community.

Effective immediately, we are deactivating this system.

As a result, players will see XP earn rates change for all activities across the board, but with all values being displayed consistently in the user interface. Over the course of the next week, we will be watching and reviewing XP game data to ensure that these changes meet our expectations, as well as yours. Any additional updates to this system will be communicated to you via our official channels.”

I, Guardian, am unsure how to comment, so I shall not. However, how do you all feel about this?

See you all on Mercury.

Xbox One X Enchanced: Gears of War 4 / Halo 3

Today is a landmark day, there will never be another day like this; there will never be an October 23rd in 2017. Also, today is the day when Gears of War 4  and Halo 3 received X Enhancement trailers. The October update appears to also lay the foundation for the Xbox One X update for Gears of War 4, though the update is less than 10 GB in size.

Gears of More!

Watch this video, which sadly isn’t in 4K or 60 FPS.

If you need more information, then read on here. There is a lot of information to digest, here are a few choice picks:

  • True 4K Experience
Get ready to experience unmatched clarity, richness and details with true 4K visuals (3840×2160) in our Visuals Rendering Mode. Even if you’re playing on a 1080p screen, you’ll instantly notice the difference thanks to a 4K supersampled image that brings you a crisper, richer looking Gears game than you’ve ever seen before.
  • Dolby Atmos Audio Support
When playing Gears of War 4 on Xbox One, we now offer Dolby Atmos, which gives you immersive, moving audio.

Halo There

This video, provided by IGN, does run at 60 FPS. And, to me, the changes are more noticeable – maybe because of the amount of time I played Halo 3, or maybe not. Overall, seeing any game have a bump in graphics and performance is most welcome.

Sega adds new Green Hill Zone to Sonic Mania

Picture the scene, a young fresh faced Rob Mafia sat on the Sega bus at Walesby International Scout Camp in 1993. Upstairs on the bus were rows of Sega Megadrives all with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 loaded and ready to play. This was the birth of a LAN party. Sonic the Hedgehog has been part of every gamers history, so I was excited to hear that Sonic Mania is in the pipeline and will be coming to Xbox One.

Sonic Mania is basically a celebration of the last 25 years of Sonic, ranging back from the early years to more present day. Green Hill Zone was amazing at the time and Sega have announced that in Sonic Mania there will be a new additional in the form of Green Hill Zone Act 2. The all new addition adds the new level and also a new boss, but details on that aren’t yet available. Check out the video below.

As you can see it’s everything that make Sonic as good as it ever was. Some may say it’s dated but I say it’s a piece of must have nostalgia. On a side note I actually won the Sega bus championship on Sonic 2 by smashing my counter parts into the ground and becoming an official Team member of the Sega Club, something I add to my CV to this day…Alright maybe not but hey it felt good at the time.

Sonic Mania is developed by SEGA of America in collaboration with Christian Whitehead, PagodaWest Games, and Headcannon. It will be digitally available for Xbox One in Spring 2017.
