I was one of the enthusiastic gamer’s who jumped on the original release of No Mans Sky, but who tailed off after a few weeks due to what I thought was an empty experience. However, Hello Games have continued to pour love into their development of the game and now we are on the cusp of the latest iteration of the space exploration game.
The No Mans Sky Next update will release on PS4 and will be free to all owners of the game. The Xbox One will get its debut release on the same day. The update includes the addition of multiplayer, improved graphics, and a third person mode. The new trailer shows off the multiplayer mode, with multiple explorers all on the same planet. No Mans Sky Next is now looking like the game we all wished for on its original release.
Hello Games have been quoted as saying “This is an incredibly important update for us, but it’s also just another step in a longer journey, and we’ll continue to support No Man’s Sky in this way for the foreseeable future.”
I was one of those eager gamers who was sooooooo excited by the promise of No Man’s Sky when it launched in August 2016. I was also one of the gamers who was disappointed by what the game actually delivered, and soon moved on to other titles. Since that time Hello Games have been busily working on the game, releasing a number of quality of life updates until they have finally reached the point of No Man’s Sky Next.
On July 24th 2018, No Man’s Sky Next will release on PS4 and PC, and also make it’s debut on Xbox One. The Xbox version will come with Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises and NEXT from day-one, in 4K and HDR for Xbox One X. This new update promises “You’ll be able to explore the universe with your friends, or bump into random travellers. You can help friends to stay alive, or prey on others to survive. Tiny shelters or complex colonies that you build as a team are shared for all players. Fight as a pirate or a wingman in epic space battles with friends and enemies. Race exocraft across weird alien terrains, creating race tracks and trails to share online.”
Multiplayer will also make its No Mans Sky debut in Next, with Hello Games Sean Murray saying We’ve been playtesting multiplayer for the last six months, and the game has evolved into a very new experience that we think the community will enjoy.”
