Kevin Neibert, lead game designer at Tuque Games, dives into the details about the cooperative apocalypse experience shown during PAX East 2016 in this latest video.
The walkthrough highlights some combat functions of each character as well as the unpredictability of enemies that will require players to strategically approach combat when playing the upcoming top-down shooter.
Spearhead Games, a new independent game studio founded by former EA and Ubisoft developers, today announced that its upcoming co-op action puzzler Tiny Brains is planned for a next-gen console release following its initial release this fall and will be on show at E3 in the South Hall, booth 2359.The game was first revealed at PAX East this year, where attendees were invited to team up as super-powered lab animals and participate in a grand experiment to make a truly cooperative game.
Our results from PAX East were really gratifying. Every single person who played our demo ranked Tiny Brainsas ‘fun’ or ‘extremely fun,’ and we had a blast seeing the many ways players combined their different powers to solve our puzzles. For E3, we’ve added in more devious challenges and can’t wait to experiment on… oops I mean collect feedback from… new players.
said Simon Darveau, co-founder and producer at Spearhead Games and formerly Assassin’s Creed III design director at Ubisoft.
With a whimsical 3D art style, Tiny Brains challenges players to escape a mad scientist’s nefarious puzzles as one of four mysteriously powerful lab rodents. Using each tiny brain’s unique power – Create, Vortex, Teleport and Force – players collaborate to beat intricate levels and escape to freedom. The downloadable title will be available early this fall via the laboratories of PC and current generation consoles and later via next-generation test centers, with details to be announced at a later date.
SuperGiant, the developers behind the hit game ‘Bastion’ has announced a new sci-fi RPG by the name of ‘Transistor’, but are currently undecided which platforms to release the game on for an expected 2014 launch. By watching the trailer below it’s not likely to be a retail game, so it’s a good assumption that the release will either be the Xbox LIVE Arcade, Sony PSN, Steam – or possibly a platform exclusivity deal is yet to be reached?
Transistor is an unsual name for a game considering Wikipedia lists such a thing as “a semiconductor device used to amplify and switch electronic signals and electrical power”. Within the game however, Transistor invites players to wield an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin as they explore a stunning futuristic city – we’re taking this to be the Transistor (maybe). For those who are lucky enough to be attending PAX East this year, an early build is playable at the dev’s booth #892. Unfortunately for me I can not travel to the US and maybe you’ll find me playing Party Bingo instead! But if you are heading out that way, share your thoughts on the game in the comments box below.
SuperGiant have also stated that they’re designing their next game to seamlessly integrate thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, complete with the studio’s signature melding of responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling. In Transistor, players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it. Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as they pursue its former owners.
A great looking reveal trailer is shown below to show you what you could be playing with should they go for an Xbox LIVE Arcade launch next year.
