Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Gameplay Trailer

Activision have today released the first gameplay trailer for their forthcoming Tony Hawk’s game.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 revisists the signature style of classic Pro Skater games with a brand-new set of levels focusing on the same daring objectives and fine-tuned controls for endless sessions and high-scoring tricks, for which previous iterations are famed. Expansive, seamless online multiplayer means you can quickly jump into the action with up to 20 friends and challengers at one time. Pretty much everything you could do in single player in past THPS games, you can now do online with friends in THPS5, like missions, unlocking new content and levelling up… or if your skills are on point, go head-to-head against all takers in competitive matches. Adding to the online insanity, you can create your own skate parks then share them with the community.

Robomodo and Disruptive Games have been hard at work developing the fifth iteration of the popular arcade skateboarding game, due for release on September 29th and October 2nd in the US and Europe respectively.

Play Tony Hawk’s 5 in Somerset

Who’s planning to go to the NASS Festival near Bristol, Somerset this Saturday, the 11th of July? Tony Hawk’s company Birdhouse will be there as part of their European Vacation Tour, and they’re bringing the entertainment.

The UK date kicks off the tour that will take in Copenhagen, Paris, Malaga, Munich and Prague.

The tour will include the stars of competitive skateboarding, featuring the legendary Tony Hawk himself, Aaron ‘Jaws’ Homoki, Lizzie Armanto, Ben Raybourn, Clint Walker and more besides.

So, other than that obvious entertainment, what else would Tony and his traveling boarders bring? Well, their good friends at Activision are bringing along a nice booth for people to be able to get their eager paws on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 to play with, for the first time.

Tony Hawk himself is eager to get started;

I’m excited to hit the road with the Birdhouse team, and to skate some of the best parks in Europe along the way. Hope to see you there.

Here is the tour schedule:

  • NASS Festival, nr Bristol, Somerset, UK. – Saturday 11th July, 4PM.
  • Fælledparken, Copenhagen, Denmark – Tuesday 14th July 4PM.
  • EGP18 skatepark, Paris, France – Friday 17th July 4PM.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 dev diary released

I remember playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater back when it was out on the original Xbox in 2001. It was a simple to pick up game that seemed to eat up the hours. I loved it.

Set to make his debut on Xbox One with the recently announced Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, the legend behind the grind is coming back and man, is he looking old!

Activision, along with developer Robomodo, have produced a developer diary, charting the current progress of this eagerly awaited title. This stars Tony and his son, Riley Hawk. It also features Robomodo’s Executive Producer, Joshua Tsui, the amazingly named Ben Crossbones, sound designer, and among other skaters, Leticia Bufoni.

It’s been thirteen years since the release of Tony Hawk’s 4. Have a little look at the developer diary below and note that pre-orders for the Xbox One version open on the 29th of September.
