Rockstar Titles coming to Xbox Backwards Compatibility

Three Rockstar titles are on their way to the Xbox Backwards Compatibility program on June 7th. GTA San Andreas, Midnight Club: Los Angeles and Rockstar Table Tennis will make their debuts on the Xbox One system thanks to the magic of technology!

GRAND THEFT AUTO: SAN ANDREAS – After escaping the pressures of life in Los Santos, Carl Johnson returns home after his mom’s murder to find his family falling apart, his childhood friends all heading towards disaster, and corrupt neighborhood cops framing him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets.

Both the original Xbox release and the Xbox 360 version of San Andreas will be backward compatible. Save games from the original Xbox version will not transfer, however owners of that version will get the upgraded Xbox 360 version of the game, featuring higher resolution, enhanced draw distances, and Achievements.

MIDNIGHT CLUB: LOS ANGELES – Race at breakneck speeds through the streets of Los Angeles in a collection of real-world tuners, muscle cars, exotics and superbikes. Customize your vehicle with the best after-market performance parts and custom kits.

Both the original version and Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition – which adds the iconic South Central area along with new vehicles, aftermarket parts, music and races – will be compatible on Xbox One.

ROCKSTAR GAMES PRESENTS: TABLE TENNIS – Experience the unmatched intensity of real-world competitive table tennis with an authentic physics engine and intuitive gameplay that mimics the exhilarating experience found in true international competition.

Choose from 11 distinct characters, each with their own style of play, and guide them to ultimate victory by mastering all the shots and techniques, including power shots, heavy spin and precision accuracy.

On Thursday 7th June, digital game owners will have instant access to the games on Xbox One, so they can download them from the “Ready to Install” section of their Xbox One. Physical game owners can just pop the Xbox 360 game disc (or Xbox game disc as well for San Andreas) into their Xbox One and download the game.

GTA Online adding Transform Races and more!

GTA Online is a firm favourite here at TiX Towers and Rockstar have announced more (yes more) new free content for the game. But first, lets applaud Rockstar here. GTA was originally released in 2013 and then updated for the current generation consoles in November 2014. So the game is now 3 years old and new content is STILL being released, with no subscription models in place! That needs to be recognised and applauded in the current climate.

So, onto the new content.

Instantly mix vehicle and race types as you switch between land, sea and air in Transform Races, the next evolution of stunt racing in Grand Theft Auto Online. Jump instantly from the curves of a gritty, downtown street race straight into a speeding jet high above Los Santos, then dive face first down Raton Canyon on a jet ski and more. Transform Races are new and unique stunt tracks that seamlessly transition across land, sea and air, running the gamut of available vehicle types – everything from Supers and Off-Roads, to Boats, Planes, and Helicopters – and even some skydiving thrown in for good measure.

There are also a pair of new Adversary Modes on the horizon; Condemned, a free-for-all with one player on the clock as a dead man walking, the only chance at survival is through passing this death sentence on to an opponent. And Dogfight, where you can live out your fighter pilot fantasies and send the opposition spiraling to their doom. The Hangars at LSIA and Fort Zancudo will need to make room for upcoming new aerial options, including the lethal and oft-requested Hunter attack helicopter. Road warriors also have some unique new rides to look forward to in the not-too-distant future, including the classy Coil Cyclone supercar and the menacing Vigilante.

Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer released by Rockstar

Rockstar know how to tease us. Earlier this year they started by changing their social media background to a solid red image, before announcing Red Dead Redemption 2 existed and would be released late 2017. After then announcing an inevitable delay to 2018, they promised more details this summer.

So, with only a few hours of summer left (officially) they released the following tweet.

Nice work Rockstar! So, at the time and date mentioned they officially released a new trailer, and it’s just what this fan had hoped for. And, if they nail the online multiplayer just as they have with GTA Online, then this gamer is pretty much sorted for 2018!

L.A. Noire remaster coming in November for Xbox One X, PS4 Pro in 4K

Rockstar Games have announced a new re-mastered version of detective thriller L.A. Noire, which is coming to the Xbox One and PS4 on November 14th.

Set against the seedy and violent underbelly of 1940s Los Angeles, L.A. Noire is the story of decorated war veteran and newly minted detective Cole Phelps as he investigates an escalating series of cases inspired by real-world crimes. Each successfully solved case brings Phelps greater success, but also closer to the dark criminal heart of post-war L.A.

The Xbox One X and PS4 Pro versions come with new bonus content and enhancements including updated weather, smog and lighting effects for a more realistic Los Angeles. Plus, real-time reflections on vehicle surfaces and new chrome and dirt effects to create a wider range of vehicles. It will also play in 4k on both Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.

A Nintendo Switch version will also be released alongside the remasters and will include the original game and its downloadable content, and will feature gyroscopic, gesture-based controls and HD rumble, as well as “new wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles, plus contextual touch screen controls for portable detective work,” Rockstar said.

Rockstar will also release its first virtual reality title based on the game, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, for HTC Vive which will include seven self-contained cases from the original L.A. Noire “rebuilt specifically for virtual reality.”

Overtime Rumble comes to GTA 5 Online

Rockstar just keeps smashing it, with their release of high-quality game modes for GTA5 Online. This time it’s Overtime Rumble in adversary mode. To put it simply its Car Darts!

Imagine the calm, rigorous fun of launching yourself through the sky at the centre of a distant target in a Ruiner 2000 with only the onboard parachute separating a top score from a deadly fireball. Well, Overtime Rumble is just like that, only you and every other adrenaline junkie in Los Santos are all hitting the accelerator at the same time. This can only end well.

This team-based vehicular remix of Darts is for up to 10 players, and has you trying to land your Ruiner 2000 on platforms of various sizes, each worth anywhere between 1 and 5 points.

Accuracy is rewarded with Double GTA$ & RP now through July 17th in Overtime Rumble.

The new game mode is incredibly simple, but quite difficult and immense amounts of fun! The TiX crew played and streamed this earlier in the week, and it was one of the most fun nights of multiplayer madness in a while! Catch the video here – TiX plays GTA5 Overtime Rumble

Rockstar paint the town Red

Well Rockstar have once again made themselves centre of attention. Previously it’s has been controversy or a new game IP, but what have they done this time to create such a stir? posted this picture on Twitter.

What could it mean? well nobody really knows yet, it even got a few TiX members excited and speculating exactly what it means. I suppose though we will have to wait and find out in the coming days, weeks or even months, who knows.

Red Dead Redemption is now on the backwards compatible list, could this be it’s bigger brother?

RDR Backwards compatability update

red_dead_redemptionThis weekend the internet was abuzz, when several sites revealed a method to install and play Rockstars western opus, Red Dead Redemption, on the Xbox One.

By exploiting the Find Someone function, gamers have been able to download and install the game. At the time of writing the other games, including Left 4 Dead 2 and Halo Wars, were still showing as unavailable but following a simple step by step process you could download Red Dead Redemption, but be prepared for disappointment if you do.

Like previous cases, the ability to view and interact with 360 games that others own allows access to the game by going to the users profile, viewing their following list, finding the game then clicking the “See in Store” function to access the Xbox Live back end for that game, even though it is not available directly on the store front.

It appears that in an effort to curb the in-proper download of Red Dead Redemption, players are now being redirected to downloading Hexic HD instead.

It is safe to say that this gives the first true indication that Xbox have been listening to the community and the top voted games are on their way to us, so we can expect Red Dead Redemption to arrive on our download lists very soon.

For now, patience appears to be the best course of action as Xbox Support have confirmed that following the unsanctioned process to obtain the game is a breach of the Terms of Service.
